Q & A with the Bride: 

1. What was the one thing about your venue that made you know it was the one?

The venue was so beautiful, picturesque and quaint. Also, CJ’s allowed us to have a wedding coordinator, who could organize things with us, considering we were from out- of-state.

2. Which three details from your wedding were your favorites?

1. Flowers

3. Give us the one moment from your wedding day that you can’t stop thinking about. 

Our favorite moment was under the gazebo when we, along with our preacher, bowed together while Kalin said a prayer asking for God’s blessing. It was so beautifully intimate, and we felt as though we were the only three people there.

Q & A with the Bride:

1. Which three details from your wedding were your favorites?

1.  Instead of renting tons of glasses for drinks, we purchased mason jars and painted a ring of chalkboard paint around the top of each jar. Our guests could write their name at the top of their jar, in chalk of course, and these also served as the favors the guests could take home. It was a creative way to save more than a few dollars, and our guests loved them!

2. Our programs for the wedding ceremony were my pride and joy! I’ve sat at weddings before and been completely bored and wondering when it would end, so I definitely didn’t want our guests to feel that way! I tried to make them as funny and creative as possible, to keep the guests engaged throughout. It was affirming when so many of the guests commented on the programs and even took pictures of them!

3. I’m not a huge fan of cake, so we decided to have a table full of individual pies instead. Our caterer was happy to make the flavors we wanted, and we stuck with traditional southern recipes-strawberry rhubarb, chess and apple. Every guest got their own mini pie, and as a budget conscious bride, it was much more affordable than having a wedding cake, since the caterer simply included the dessert cost in our overall cost per person. Matthew and I were also able to take the leftover pies on our honeymoon, and we had a different flavor each night for dessert!

2. Give us one moment from your wedding you cannot stop thinking about. 

After the ceremony, as the guests were filing out through the front of the church, Matthew and I spent a few minutes alone in a room “hiding.” It was such a quick, little intimate moment, but it gave us just enough time to laugh, cry and revel in the fact that we were MARRIED!

We love how Becky and Jimmy decided to have a destination wedding in Tennessee all the way from Chicago! Their country chic theme included their wedding party wearing cowboy boots, a boat oar guest book, Jack Daniels lollipops, a DIY bar menu and take-out sliders at the end of the night. We can tell they wanted to treat their family and friends with real southern hospitality.

Q & A with the Bride: 

1.     What was the one thing about your venue that made you know it was the one?

When we visited the gardens before the wedding, we spent over an hour exploring the many areas of the garden. We loved the field of lilies that served as the backdrop for the ceremony site.  The ceremony site gazebo was grand and rustic with a cemented stone aisle and fit perfectly with our vision for a romantic, outdoor wedding.  Our wedding was late in the summer, so we didn’t get the full effect of the spring blooms in the lily field, but it was a beautiful setting nonetheless

2.     Which three details from your wedding were your favorites?

1)     The vintage furniture pieces with the photo frame wall Jordon built:  The vintage rental pieces and the photo wall backdrop really helped create the atmosphere for the reception and tied our other elements together with a common theme.  They created a big impact at an affordable price and guests enjoyed the lounge seating area by the dance floor and posing for fun photos. 

2)     The whimsical table centerpieces: each with a different object and a fluttering butterfly in a mason jar.  Jordon and I had fun together shopping for each of the items.  My favorite of the objects was a white resin pig. I don’t know why; I just love him.  He now resides on my mantle.

3)     The men’s boutonnieres: Jordon helped pick out the items to go in them and put them together himself. He did a great job and really tried to make something we would both be happy with even though he nixed the peacock feathers I wanted to incorporate (the blue tiny flowers were a fair compromise). It meant a lot to me that he was involved with the details of the wedding so that it represented us both. 

3. Give us the one moment in your wedding day you can’t stop thinking about.

We’ve come to the conclusion that the best moment of the day was when the ceremony was over, and we were announced into the reception pavilion. That was the first time we saw all the projects and planning come together, and we knew we could relax and have some fun and libations. The sangria was especially sweet after all the stress of the day.  (Although, a close second was when I saw my flowers were pink instead of peach.  That was a bridezilla moment.)

“Kelley and Denard’s wedding was so fun to photograph. There was so much color! From the bold red and teal of the bridesmaid’s outfits to the Asian-inspired parasols- it really made everyone stand out against the natural, fall colors. The bride and groom made it impossible for their guests not to have a good time. Little details, such as the checkerboards and souvenir cake jars, kept the guests entertained and comfortable. With a Krispy Kreme cake and homemade pumpkin decor, Kelley and Denard’s playful personalities were reflected throughout Front Porch Farms. As the night stretched on, guests were treated to family-style dining and danced the night away under strands of lights. Everyone left relaxed after a wonderful evening celebrating the union of Kelley and Denard.”
