Backyard Style Shoot Inspiration

Posted by Jeffra on Oct 12, 2011

From the Designers: “For this styled shoot we wanted to create a unique and colorful “backyard chic” wedding and capture the essence of a couple who is carefree and light hearted. In the age of DIY we felt this was the perfect setting to show how simple it can be to create a one-of-a-kind beginning to a couple’s new life together. A quilt complete with worn holes and tears is all that is needed for a ceremony backdrop, and two mismatched accent tables with colorful arrangements in painted coffee tins complete the look of where the two first become one. The seating for the guests are simple benches made out of pine topped with foam and covered with colorful graphic fabrics. The aisle is lined with shepherd hooks, home-made pillows, birdcages, and mason jars. A unique guest book is incorporated with a hand drawn birdcage and thumbprints turned into birds! For the guest’s dining experience, Beaumont Catering incorporated appetizers that are fresh and easy for a backyard family setting. This Cake’s For You continued with the bird theme and made a visual cake complete with tree limbs and miniature birds. We wanted to create a unique set-up for some fun novelty foods as well, so we came up with the “popcorn bar”, K & K It’s a Hit Events provided the cork labels for the popcorn as well as the popcorn holders made out of scrapbook paper and ribbon. The floral was designed to look as though it was freshly picked from a family member’s garden. We wanted to convey a wildflower effect with the bouquets and centerpieces. For the lounge area we used wicker patio furniture complete with home-made colorful pillows for guests to relax and visit with the happy couple. Our escort cards are succulent plants that also double as a favor. A wooden picnic table was the perfect option for guest seating, topped with vintage books, mason jars, potted plants found at a local garden center, and a few flower centerpieces made in vintage tins purchased from antique stores.”
