Handmade Gray and Yellow Fall Farm Wedding in Georgia

Kristi and Ryan were married at Sunny D Farms in Williamson, Ga. on October 4. “The simplicity of it all,” Kristi said. “It didn’t need much to be everything I had visioned my day to be.” The bride wore a strapless lace a-line wedding gown, accessorized with her hair half-up/half-down in loose curls, fingertip-length veil, sash, and a pair of comy flats, while the groom wore a navy blue suit, accessorized with a striped bow tie. Bridesmaids wore short two-tone dresses, accessorized with cowboy boots, and carried bouquets of carnations, silver brunia balls, and craspedia. “My florist Cyndi, owner of Twigs, Leaves and Flowers, took my vision and made it a reality with only using three real flowers,” she said. Guests were greeted with a chalkboard sign that said, “welcome to our wedding.” The pews’ aisles were lined with wooden tree stumps, an altar adorned with a fireplace mantle, monogram decal, and vintage boxes and wash pans. “The moment when I lost it, and I couldn’t control the tears,” Kristi said. “I had asked Coleton our preacher to ask Ryan and I before the wedding, ‘why do you want to marry him/her?’ separately. It’s one of those answers that you could go on and on about, but putting it into words was so hard! When Coleton came in my room, I automatically lost it. At that moment, I knew what he was going to ask. I cried (a happy cry) all the way through my answer — no matter what Ryan makes me the center of his world. You can just tell when he looks at me how much he loves me.” Once the exchanging of vows were sealed with a kiss, it was official, with almost 135 witnessing. Cocktail hour began followed by the reception inside the barn. Tables were decorated with yellow linens, chevron runners, mason jar centerpieces, and lanterns. “Everything reflected Ryan and I’s personality,” she said. In lieu of a traditional guest book, tags attached to keys were written with well wishes. Concluding dinner, a two-tiered buttercream-frosted cake was cut and served for dessert. “The perfect mix” table was open for a late-night snack too. Bonus: cookie baking sheets from the Great American Cookie company! The newlyweds’ best advice? “Any decor that you buy for the wedding think: ‘how is this going to look in my house when the wedding is over?'” Kristi said. “‘Why spend a ton of money on things you can’t reuse?'” At the end of the night, they exited amongst a sea of sparklers.

Although ceremony programs aren’t entirely essential, your guests might be extremely grateful for them! They answer important questions about your big day such as: who’s in the wedding party?, who’s the officiant?, what are the readings?, which songs did they choose for the processional and recessional?, and how long does it last? Emmy and Brian were married at the Greystone at Piedmont Park in Atlanta, Ga. on April 26. “It was a place we spent a lot of time when we started dating,” Emmy said. “Brian and I used to love walking there to watch the dogs and attend concerts. When we found out they had venues in the park, we knew we wanted to add ‘the place we got married’ to the list of memories made there.” The bride wore a mermaid wedding gown with a jeweled shoulder and flutter cap sleeve, accessorized with a birdcage veil, while the groom wore a three-piece black suit, accessorized with a bow tie. Bridesmaids wore long green chiffon dresses and carried bouquets of tulips, hydrangeas, and berries. Guests were asked to grab a pair of sunglasses to fight against the glaring sun during the outdoor ceremony.  Inside the the reception space, known for it’s original granite walls, tables were decorated with mix ‘n’ matched vases and vessels, vintage books, and votive candles. In lieu of a traditional guest book, a globe was marked with all the places they should travel together too. The newlyweds’ favorite moments? “Our wedding party dance to ‘The Evolution of Hip Hop’ that opened the reception,” she said. “The views of the city at sunset, and the amazingly delicious food and cake.”

Q & A with the Bride:

1. What was the one thing about your venue that made you know it was the one?

When we first viewed Nash Farms and saw the beautiful natural backdrop, we knew this was the place for our wedding.  My husband is a history nerd, so the historical nature of Nash Farms appealed to us.  It was cool that we were able to wed in a location that some of the Civil War took place.  We had lots of really neat places for photo ops; hay bales, barns, rolling hills and oak trees.

2. Which three details from your wedding were your favorites?

1. I knew from the beginning I wanted a country chic wedding, so I began my search for antique teal Ball Mason jars.  My mom took a trip to Kentucky to visit family and came back with lots of them.  It was fun collecting them throughout the year, each one was unique.

2. Instead of a traditional toast, I wanted to do a coke toast.  Nothing is better than an ice cold coke in a glass bottle on a hot summer evening.  This was a great moment in the wedding, as Zach’s brother was the best man and my sister was the maid of honor, and they were the ones to toast us.

3. My colors were teal and tan. I wanted to incorporate that into a fun candy bar for the guests, so they could take home a little piece of the day.  I picked out candy that matched the theme and other candy that was our favorite. Everyone enjoyed the sweet treats!

3. If you could offer one piece of advice for other couples planning their wedding, what would it be?

My one piece of advice would be getting a great photographer.  It is definitely worth the money!  If you don’t think your budget will allow, make changes.  I couldn’t be happier with Tate, she was amazing.  She helped us feel relaxed, and she knew how to capture the look of my wedding even better than I did.

4. Give us the one moment in your wedding you can’t stop thinking about.

Zach and I waited a long time for this day, and we wanted to make “our” moment very special.  Before I started to come down the aisle, his brother tapped him on the shoulder to turn around.  It was a perfect moment between the two of us that our guests got to witness.  This moment, along with me seeing all my loved ones and friends sitting in the audience had us both in tears.  They were happy tears, and I will treasure this moment forever!
