Kristyn and Billy were married at the Barn at Gibbet Hill in Groton, Mass. on July 12. “We found the venue through our photographer’s blog,” Kristyn said. “She had photographer another couple at the barn, and it was the rolling, green hills that frist made me want to check it out. When we first got out of the car on our first visit there, I knew it was where we could be married . . . it was different from all the other venues we had been to.” The bride wore a strapless satin a-line wedding gown with a ruched bodice, accessorized with her hair half-up/half-down with loose curls, jeweled sash, and a pair of t-strap sandals, while the groom wore a light gray vest and pants, accessorized with a tie. Bridesmaids wore long pink chiffon dresses and carried bouquets of roses, hydrangeas, daisies, and spider mums. Guests were greeted with a pair of sunglasses to not be blinded by the love. “My aunt was the officiant, so it made the ceremony much more personal for us,” she said. “That Saturday in July was the most perfect day, all sun and no humidity. It allowed for us to enjoy everything the property had to offer, including having our ceremony out on the lawn. The rustic setting allowed us to use so many rustic details, from bright flowers in mason jars hanging off the sides of chairs to drinking sangria out of mason jars with paper straws to having a wooden pallet for everyone to sign, I could go on and on.” The reception followed inside the barn lit with chandeliers from beams. Tables were decorated with damask patterned linens, square wooden centerpieces, heart-shaped chalkboard numbers, and votive candles surrounded by chiavari chairs. “For our entrance, we came out to Whitney Houston’s ‘I Want to Dance with Somebody,'” Kristyn said. “I feel like it started the night off right and continued the party from there. It was so much fun, and I can replay it over and over in my head.” A four-tiered buttercream-frosted cake was served for dessert. The newlyweds’ best advice? “Enjoy every moment, don’t stress over the small stuff,” she said. “Everything will come together. We were engaged for almost 2 years, and it flew by.”
Meg and Brandon were married at Vinewood Plantation in Newnane, Ga. on November 16. “The stables and grounds at Vinewood Plantation had that perfect relaxed charm we were looking for,” Meg said. “I knew the day would be beautiful, even if I had no money left to spend on the decor!” The bride wore a strapless a-line wedding gown, accessorized with her hair in an updo, fingertip-length veil, sash, and a pair of flats, while the groom wore a black suit, accessorized with striped tie. “I wore my great aunt Margaret’s earrings for my ‘something blue,'” she said. “She was my mom’s favorite aunt, and I was named for her. My mom gave me the earrings years ago — they were special then, but it meant so much to include them in my wedding.” Bridesmaids wore short patterened dresses they picked out themselves and carried bouquets of roses, ranunculuses, anemones, scabiosa pods, and succulents. “Our guests were greeted with hot apple cider upon arrival,” Meg said. “My mom made 150 felt coffee koozies and 150 of her famous caramels for cider stirrers. The handmade touches from our family and friends made us feel so loved and supported.” Before the ceremony, the couple opted for a first look. Of course, tears were shed! “I will never forget the look on Brandon’s face when we first saw each other,” she said. “It was such an emotional moment, even with our small audience standing 50 feet away. Planning a wedding is such a long and laborious process, but in that moment it was so clear why we were here. I was so full of joy (and relief) that the day had finally come.” The ceremony took place underneath a giant oak tree with everyone sitting in mix ‘n’ matched chairs. Afterwards, the reception was held inside the barn. Tables were decorated with burlap runners, vintage plates and goblets, and votive candles. Dinner was a traditional Southern fare, BBQ! “I loved having individual cakes on each table,” Meg said. “They served two purposes: table numbers and desserts. They were rum cakes, made using grandma Guynelle’s famous recipe. I made the bunting toppers and my mom scoured flea markets and goodwill stores for a year buying up cake stands.” For late-night snacks, s’mores could be roasted over an open fire too. The newlyweds’ best advice? “Plan every last detail,” she said. “We loved Google docs to track everything. Then, turn it over to someone you trust and let it go.”
Karisa and James were married at Serendipity Garden in Oak Glen, Calif. on May 25. ” It was a wedding fairytale venue,” Karisa said. “It had every WOW factor I was looking for with beautiful views from every angle, brand new barn that gave my pictures the cutest rustic touch, and it was all inclusive, which sold it for me. They took care of everything and that helped me be very organized!” The bride wore a lace fit ‘n’ flare wedding gown with a low back, accessorized with her short hair down in loose curls, branch wreath, and a pair of nude Christian Louboutin platform pumps, while the groom wore a tan suit, accessorized with a matching tie and pocket square. Bridesmaids wore long chiffon dresses in various necklines and carried bouquets of roses, hydrangeas, berries, and dusty millers. “My flowers were to die for,” she said. Before the ceremony, the couple opted for a first look. James’ reaction — pricesless! Guests were greeted with a chalkboard sign that said, “As two families become one, we ask that you choose a seat not a side.” The ceremony took place outside overlooking the mountains. They even rode off on a horse-drawn carriage aftwerwards! “It took everyone’s breath away,” Karisa said. The reception kicked off with dancing, obviously. “Honestly, I think about how many people danced their butts off all night,” she said. “The dance floor was packed with all of my loved ones celebrating and having the time of their lives. That made all our hard work worth it.” Tables were decorated with white linens, burlap runners, lantern centerpieces, and gold glitter numbers in picture frames. “My cake was not only the most beautiful cake I imagined, but it was also by far the most delicious I have ever had,” Karisa said. There was also a candy bar too. The newlyweds’ best advice? “Do not sweat the small stuff,” she said. “There are so many details in wedding planning. If you worry about every single detail, you will not only become a bridezilla but also take the focus off the beauty in every fun aspect of it. This happens once, so enjoy every small and large thing that this experience has to offer! Let others help you.”
Brittany and Blake were married at the Washington Grass Inn in Greensboro, Ga. on October 11. The bride wore a strapless sweetheart fit ‘n’ flare wedding gown, accessorized with her hair in an updo, fingertip-length veil, jeweled sash, and a pair of cowboy boots, while the groom wore a black suit, accessorized with a matching tie and vest. Bridesmaids wore short gray lace dresses and carried bouquets of roses, scabiosa pods, dahlias, daisies, and fiddlehead fern curls. Notice the statement necklaces too? There wasn’t one flower girl or two, but four! Before the ceremony, the couple opted for a first look on the front porch. Guests were greeted to the 13-acre historic property (circa 1852) with a chalkboard sign that said, “Friends of the bride, friends of the groom, please sit together. There is plenty of room.” Brittany was escorted down the aisle by her father through two doors. Aisles were lined with tree trunks topped with mason jars. The vows were sealed with a kiss just as the sun was setting. And in perfect time for formal portraits on the swing! The reception took place in the “cottonball room” otherwise known as the pavilion. Tables were decorated with brown linens, orange napkins, and wheat centerpieces surrounded by pine cones. Koozie favors were passed out as the dance floor got packed from entertainment of the band. At the end of the night, the newlyweds exited amongst a sea of handmade ribbon wands.
Michelle and Matthew were married at Classic Oaks Ranch in Mansfield, Texas on June 28. “The overall feel of the venue was very rustic, but very classic at the same time,” Michelle said. The bride wore a strapless sweetheart ball gown, accessorized with her hair in a braided sideswept updo, feather dangling earrings, and a pair of cowboy boots, while the groom wore a three-piece gray suit, accessorized with a matching tie and pocket square. Bridesmaids wore short purple chiffon dresses and carried bouquets of calla lilies, seeded eucalyptus, thistle, and nigella. “Michelle is in school studying to become an equine veternarian, and they both are animal lovers so both of their dogs were out with them all day . . . she even intended to ride in to the ceremony on horseback, but at the last minute, the horse wouldn’t cooperate,” Lindsey Burns of Tyler + Lindsey said. “Instead, we just included her in their portraits.” The ceremony took place outside underneath the wooden pavilion with guests seated in benches. “I can’t stop thinking about when the barn doors opended and I saw Matthew waiting for me at the head of the aisle,” she said. Afterwards, the reception began in the barn. Horseshoes served as escort cards and prepared everyone for the BBQ. Yum! Tables were decorated with white linens, tall wheat centerpieces, galvanized metal tins, which served double-duty as favors, at each place setting, and surrouned with bows tied aroud cross-back chairs. “They are sweet, down-to-earth, and relaxed, and the wedding was such the perfect reflection of them,” Lindsey said. “The day had a beautiful collection of personal touches that truly added so much personality.” At the end of the night, they exited amongst a sea of sparlers and drove off in an antique black Ford Ranger truck for their honeymoon along the entire West Coast. The newlyweds’ best advice? “Start as early as possible and seriously consider a planner,” she said. “Even if you just have someone take over in the final weeks before the big day.”
