Shannon and Neelesh were married at Lanikuhonua in Kapolei, Hawaii on March 28. “Lanikuhonua is the perfect site for a a wedding,” Shannon said. “The setting is so picturesque like a postcard. The Ihilani [a resort] is right next door also, which was very convenient [for out-of-town guests]. Hawaiian royalty used to vacation here in the summers, so you can imagine how beautiful it is! I’m from Hawaii. We knew we wanted to do it here. We thought it would be fun to have our family and friends together on vacation for our big day.” The bride wore a strapless mermaid wedding gown, accessorized with a low chignon bun and fingertip-length veil, while the groom wore a white button-up shirt, tweed vest, and khaki pants, accessorized with a checkered bow tie. Bridesmaids wore short pink satin dresses and carried bouquets of roses, carnations, gloriosa lilies, and hydrangeas. Before the ceremony, the couple opted for a first look with portraits taken in stilt palm trees. They finally said, “I do” overlooking Ka’ula Bay underneath a fabric draped arbor. Notice there was a receiving line afterwards too? The reception took place in a frame tent. Tables were decorated with white linens, trailing vase and vessel centerpieces, starfish and seashells, bamboo charger plates, and favor boxes filled with shortbread cookies dipped in chocolate, which served as favors, at each place setting. “[Our theme] was tropical elegance,” she said. “White with pops of fuchsia and yellow.” Guests were encourage to put on their dancing shoes also known as flip flops on the black and white checkered floor glowing with string lights. Extra entertainment? Hula dancers!

Green and Yellow Ranch Wedding in Hawaii

1. What was the one thing about your venue that made you know it was the one?

Just looking at pictures of our venue, Sunset Ranch, I knew it was the right place for us. It had beautiful views, and a perfect outdoor area where we knew we wanted to hold the ceremony. We booked immediately, then made a site visit. After visiting, we knew we made the right choice, it was just as we hoped it would be.

2. Which three details from your wedding were your favorites?

First, our venue was secluded and private. This created an intimate setting, which we envisioned for our wedding day. Second, we loved that our venue was exclusive to us. All areas of the ranch were ours for the day. The areas seemed limitless, including a rain forest, open grassy fields with views of the ocean and sunset in the evening, a pond and even a rustic barn, which we used for our reception. The exclusiveness of the venue gave us creative freedom to create our own unique wedding. Third, the ice cream truck that was driven into the barn to serve our guests dessert. We received many complements and had many fun pictures of guests eating colorful ice cream bars. Our wedding had a casual feel, and with the ice cream truck, the guests were able to have some fun on the warm, balmy, Hawaiian night.

3. Give us the one moment from your wedding that you can’t stop thinking about.

The moment I can’t stop thinking about is when I walked out during our ceremony to meet my husband. I had a slightly far walk to get to the altar, there wasn’t a traditional aisle. I had my brother escort me around the ranch house, and out along a grassy field where I was finally able to see all of our friends and family. I heard our musician singing the song I wanted, The Beatles’ “In My Life” and as I got close enough to see everyone, I started to get really emotional. It hit me all of a sudden, after all the years spent together, we were finally going to be married. I started to tear up and was so happy. Since many events during our wedding came and went too quickly, this is a moment that I vividly remember and will never forget.

Q & A with the Bride:

1. What was the one thing about your venue that made you know it was the one?

It was the lush green landscape along the ocean that resembles all of Hawaii has to offer.

2. Which three details from your wedding were your favorites/

1. The ceremony.

2. The décor that was arranged in love by friends and family, who took my visions and brought them to life.

3. The groom and groomsmen surprise performance to Justin Bieber’s Baby!

3. Give us the one moment from your wedding that you can’t stop thinking about.

The ceremony, was amazingly perfect.  So many unscripted moments that make you laugh and cry that make the moment unforgettable for us.  We give praise to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for perfectly designing marriage and teaching us how to love and be loved.  The Holy Spirit was truly present in that moment bringing together our friends and family to witness what God had designed for our lives.

Q & A with the Bride:

1. What was the one thing about your venue that made you know it was the one?

We wanted our feet in the sand and the gorgeous scenery of Hawaii in the background. Although the groom is from Oahu originally, we had several out-of-town guests in attendance and wanted to give them an unforgettable (and non-Waikiki tourist) experience. Kualoa Ranch was magical!

2. Which four details from your wedding were your favorites?

1. Having the guests and wedding party board a boat to head over the fish pond for the Secret Island ceremony and back for the reception was breathtaking.

2. The food was incredible. An upscale luau with simple yet elegant food. Delicious!

3. My custom handmade dress. I designed my dress and beaded it with over 30 hours of love! It was so beautiful and comfortable.

4. We had a luau performed by Chief Sielu and his team of performers. What an amazing fire show for our guests.

3. Give us the one moment from your wedding day you can’t stop thinking about.

Seeing our smiling faces in every photo, some even in hysterical laughter. We had such a wonderful time and didn’t want it to end.
