Q & A with the Bride:

1. What was the one thing about your venue that made you know it was the one?

It’s a ranch owned by a couple and when we went to look at it, the man took us around the property then offered us wine while we talked about life and not necessarily wedding details. It was so calm, quiet, and peaceful. We ended up talking into the evening.  They made us feel like the whole venue would be about us and our family. This was a far different experience and more personal experience than other venues.

2. Which three details from your wedding were your favorites?

1. Josh’s maternal grandmother was our minister.

2. The chandeliers were lit and hanging from a tree in the middle of the woods with no outlet or cords in view.

3. Vintage furniture and blue grass band.

3. Give us the one moment in your wedding day you can’t stop thinking about.

When Josh sang to me during our grand entrance at the reception.

Kate & Stephen

July 21

Montauk, New York

From the Photographer: “Kate and Stephen’s wedding was held at the beautiful Gurney’s Inn in Montauk, Long Island. Situated on a bluff above the Atlantic Ocean, it’s the perfect location for a beach wedding. We met up with Kate on the morning of their wedding while she was still in the salon. We knew it was going to be an amazing day when we saw how Kate was smiling. She was so happy and so beautiful! Kate had bought matching robes for all the girls to wear and pose in before they got dressed. At this same time, Stephen was out riding dune buggies on the beach with the guys. When he got back to his cabin, he realized that  he left his card for Kate at home. Without missing a beat, he called someone at his house and asked them to read the card to him so he could write the words down in a scrap of paper for Kate. After all, it’s the words that are important!

Kate and Stephen opted to take their photos before their beachfront ceremony. That allowed us to go into the quaint town of Montauk to shoot some of their photos portraits together. They were an amazing couple and so much in love. Virtually all we had to do is put them together and the photos happened just the way we hoped, without much coaching. Their personalities and love for each other showed right on through.

Their ceremony was held right on the beach on a beautiful sunny Long Island July afternoon. The surfboard that the groomsmen carried represented Kate’s brother who passed away while Kate and Stephen were planning their wedding. After a beautiful ceremony, we did a few more photos on the beach, then it was off to the cocktail hour. Their reception was wild and crazy with lots of friends from college dancing and celebrating with the couple.”  – Mindi and Rich Verdi, Photography by Verdi

Mesa, Arizona

This wedding was held inside the Bungalow, a vintage building in Mesa Arizona turned into a coffee shop. The venue provided the prefect low-key, unique spot for adorable photos. I am always very interested in weddings that have a combination of both cozy and personalized, yet utterly elegant. Thanks to Photography by Verdi for sharing the images with us!
