Happy Veteran’s Day! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to all the men and women, past, present, and future, serving in our nation’s armed forces. In honor, the WeddingWire’s Editorial Team is taking a look back at some of our favorite real weddings filled with heroes:
Desiree and Michael were married at the historic Gale Mansion in Minneapolis, Minn. on October 5. Despite it raining off and on, the couple used it to their advantage by taking portraits with umbrellas. Since Desiree works for a publishing company, she was inspired by poetry as her theme. A chalkboard greeted guests with a quote by F. Scott Fitzgerald, “I love her and that’s the beginning and end of everything,” bundles of their favorite books were used as centerpieces, and the cake was hand-iced with their vows to each other. The most significant part? The bride wearing her mother’s original wedding dress but with a twist — the sleeves were taken off, and the lace and buttons were kept on — and accessorized with a birdcage veil.
