Q & A with the Bride:

1. What was the one thing about your venue that made you know it was the one?

Caleb and I went to a friend’s wedding at the Harbor on Possum Kingdom Lake in May of 2010 and absolutely fell in love with the venue. {Their wedding was actually the first wedding to be held in the chapel, which made it even more special.} The chapel was breathtaking, the scenery was gorgeous, and the reception on the lake was a perfect fit for us. When we left that weekend, we both looked to each other and said, “We are getting married here!” After we got engaged May 24, 2012, this was by far the first and easiest decision for us both. We knew we wanted a fun and laid back wedding, one that was memorable for us and for our guests. What we had in mind was a romantic, rustic-themed wedding and the Harbor venue offered the best of both worlds.

2. Which three details from your wedding were your favorites?

1. The Harbor Venue and Cabin Accommodations: The Harbor venue offered the indoor-outdoor atmosphere we were hoping to find for our wedding day. We were able to set up a tent and dance floor where the band performed and all of our family and friends got to enjoy the night dancing, singing and having the time of their lives with us! The Hide-Away Cabins were wonderful accommodations for our families and our wedding party. They were super close to the venue, and they offered lots of fun activities to keep everyone entertained for the weekend.

2. The Band: Identity Theft Band brought the party to life with their upbeat music and fun personalities. They played a mix of country, pop, rock and oldies. The dance floor was crowded all night long!

3. The Flowers and Centerpiece Arrangements: The flowers and centerpiece arrangements were put together by Bows and Arrows with the help of our amazing wedding planner, Britney Ratto of  RSVP Events. These ladies were the masterminds behind the wonderful eclectic, romantic, and rustic look that I had hoped for. The collection of bud vases, mercury glass votives, old wooden crates, old frames, burlap and lace were all used to create my dream wedding.

3. Give us the one moment in your wedding you can’t stop thinking about.

The kiss was by far the most magical moment of the night. Caleb swept me off my feet and took my breath away. Literally! {This was not planned by the way, so thank goodness we didn’t both go tumbling down to the floor.} We were surrounded by our amazing family and friends, and we were finally Mr. and Mrs. Caleb Hopson. It was a perfect moment that we will both cherish forever.  A huge thank you to our amazing photographer, Derrick Tribbey, for capturing all of the details and special moments throughout the day!

Laura & Jason

Savannah, Georgia

From the photographer: “Laura and Jason wanted to marry somewhere central for their guests, though they would travel the furthest from Los Angeles, between Florida and North Carolina. They wanted a southern wedding and chose the Harper Fowlkes House, which is an outdoor courtyard in the Historic District of Savannah. Caroline Carter implemented a design and had them married under a fabric-swatched oak tree in the square, had their guests’ cocktail hour inside the Harper Fowlkes House then proceeded to the courtyard for a seated banquet dinner.” –Donna Van Breuning of Donna Van Breuning Photographers

Elegant Farm Wedding in the Smoky Mountains

Paige & John

April 23

Walland, Tennessee

From the Photographer: Paige and John had the wedding of their dreams. The two were married in front of their closest family and friends at Blackberry Farm in Walland, TN – named North America’s #1 Resort by Travel and Leisure Magazine. Paige and John are from Chicago and have family all over the country, so it was a southern destination wedding in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee. Paige and her mother, who helped with the design, have a beautiful and elegant style that comes through in all of the gorgeous details from Paige’s wedding. Starting with the venue, Blackberry Farm is set in one of the most beautiful parts of the Smoky Mountains with a fully functioning farm and 5 star dining facility with a philosophy dedicated to sustainable farming and farm to table cuisine. On the property Blackberry has llamas, horses, truffle dogs, sheep, among other animals and fish. Their amazing ceremony took place on the lawn of the main house, overlooking the mountains. The reception took place at Blackberry’s beautiful barn dining facility, and the details that Paige and John incorporated are almost too many to list. The wanted to stick with the feel of Blackberry Farm’s already beautiful, rustic atmosphere, but enhance it with touches of Paige and John’s taste. For the flowers, they enlisted the help of NYC-based florist Julio Jimenez, incorporating hydrangeas, peonies, orchids, roses, blooming pear branches, among many other spring blooms. To soften some of the barn textures, they added moss, tulip bulbs, votives, and many candles. All in all, Paige and John had an incredibly romantic wedding that involved all of their closest friends and family in a breathtaking place for an unforgettable weekend. ~ Natalie, Watson-Studios

Black, White, and Elegant All Over!

Posted by Jeffra on Feb 09, 2012

Elegance comes in all colors, shapes, and sizes, but if I had to choose a color combination that always eludes elegance, it would be black and ivory (or white). While this color combination does not work for everyone (and we recommend it for formal, evening, weddings); you can certainly gather some ideas and then have your accent color be something vibrant if you’re not in to a solely monochromatic look!
