5 Creative Engagement Session Locations

Posted by Caitlin on Jan 10, 2013

The most popular reason to take engagement photos is for your save-the-dates. But, it’s also a great way to get comfortable in front of the camera with your wedding photographer and see how your photographer operates. (Think of it as a test run.) Trust your photographer to bring out you and your fiances’ personalities in a creative way. So, when it comes time to introduce yourselves to your guests, why not choose one of these 5 unique engagement session locations:

1. Carnival

Still little kids at heart? Relive your childhood by spending an afternoon at a carnival. Play games, ride the carousel, eat cotton candy and maybe win a prize or two!

2. NFL Football Stadium

Die hard football fans? Score a touchdown on your favorite NFL football stadium.

3. Ski & Snowboard Resort

Adventurous? If you love colder weather and hitting the slopes, trek down the mountain together.

4. On the River

Down to earth? Float down the river in a little canoe. Nothing’s more romantic than reenacting “The Notebook.”

5. Pumpkin Patch

Is your favorite season fall? What better way to celebrate Halloween by heading over to your local pumpkin patch.

For more creative engagement session locations, consider a flea market, coffee shop, train station, or even revisit your high school or college if you first started dating there. And remember, don’t forget to smile for the camera!

Giants Stadium Engagement Session

Posted by Jeffra on Jan 31, 2012

I am not a die-hard Giant’s fan, I’m actually a die-hard Redskins fan (don’t laugh). But when I saw this engagement session I had to share it with the Garden! Plus it’s a timely post, since the Giant’s are playing in the Super Bowl this weekend. Whether you a football lover or not, this e-session is sexy, romantic, and oh-so-sweet! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

Where are you, or did you, have your e-session photos? Was it themed around a hobby you both enjoy? Share them with us!

A Pumpkin Patch Engagement Session

Shannon & Sean

Engagement Session

From the Photographer: “A pumpkin patch, a golden sunset, fall leaves, and a beautiful couple – what more could a fall-loving photographer want? Shannon and Sean’s favourite season is fall, their favourite holiday is Halloween, so it was only natural that we held their engagement session at the Laity Pumpkin farm in beautiful British Columbia. We also shot in a nearby field at sunset, and Shannon changed into a prairie-inspired mini dress with brown, buckled, high-heeled boots. Adorable! Sean proposed to Shannon on a US roadtrip – he dropped to one knee on an Oregon pier overlooking a lighthouse! Their elegant 2012 wedding will be held at the luxurious Swan-e-set.” –Alexandra Hunt Photography

Joanne & Theo

Engagement Session | June 2011

Fort Langley, British Columbia

From the Photographer: “Joanne and Theo are huge thrift store shoppers! They love to spend their weekends together travelling from store to store. They incorporated their love for this into their session! Joanne brought a roll along suitcase full of clothing changes, jewelery options, and all sorts of fun little props! They are such a quirky couple who are so in love. They laughed their entire session!” – Justine Russo Photography

Engagement portraits in Washington, DC

Vanessa and Ethan on a lawn across the street from the Lincoln Memorial

I had a great engagement photo shoot with Vanessa and Ethan in Washington, DC recently. We started around the Lincoln Memorial and then moved on to the C&O canal in Georgetown.
