Brandy + Russ

May 2011

Norfolk, VA

From the Bride: “The theme was Victorian Pirate.  It was held on a replica of a 19th century pirate ship, “The American Rover”; and the reception was at an historic home run by the Women’s Club of Norfolk.  Pirates greeted the guests as we docked after the two hour ceremony and cocktail sailing.  Most of the details were hand made by the myself (as well as my mother, sister, and Aunt/Wedding planner) including my shoes, my hair accessory, the linens (monogramming as well), the curtains, my garter (by my mother using lace from her wedding dress), my necklace (using an antique cameo that my mother received from her grandmother when she was a little girl), the pirate flag, the ring-box/treasure chest, flower girl tussey mussey, even the corsage pins.  The centerpieces were gold candelabras with crystals and flower arrangements in antique teacups as well as floral balls.  The table names were famous pirates!  I collected antique salad and dessert dishes to use for the place settings.  The favors were personalized chocolate coins in gold bags!  We had a wonderful time and I hope all our friends and family did as well!  It meant so much to have so many of our loved ones gathered for this day!”
