Greetings from New York Bridal Market! Over the next several days, your intrepid WeddingWire team will be attending all the shows and getting a sneak peek of the brand-new dresses that will be sold at a salon near you in just a few months. Be sure to follow us on Twitter and Facebook to get all the minute-by-minute updates.
Even though Bridal Market has only just begun, we have already have started to notice several trends emerging. Most notably, while ballgowns are still a bridal runway staple, we saw lots of form-fitting silhouettes (mermaids and trumpet) from every designer. Check out these examples:
Gown by David’s Bridal
Springtime nymphs walked down the runway at Douglas Hannant’s Spring 2011 show in ethereal layers of chiffon, tulle, and organza finished with marvelous intricate details.
Spring’s muses were followed by sleek, draped silk charmeuse and gowns that seamlessly incorporated blue toile and flowers. Each dress so natural, fluid and perfectly fitted it was difficult to believe that the designer had not simply waved a magic wand backstage to conjure them.
Elegant and modern, Douglas Hannant‘s Fall 2010 gowns express the prevailing trends of flowers, full skirts, ruffles, and tulle in a stunning, edgy collection. With dramatic architectural shapes and progressive styling, Douglas Hannant’s gowns are just what sophisticated fashion forward brides are looking for!
