Lauren and Patrick were married in a traditional church ceremony at Historic St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church followed by an indoor reception at the Cork Factory Hotel in Lancaster, Penn. on November 30. “When we saw the photos online, we felt immediately drawn to the warmth (literally, there is a working fireplace) and coziness of the ballroom,” Lauren said. “We loved all of the intricate details like the hanging chandeliers and exposed beams and bricks.” The bride wore a v-neck lace wedding gown, accessorized with an ivory sash and her mom’s chapel-length wedding veil from 1979, while the groom wore a dark gray suit, accessorized with a navy blue tie to match the bridesmaids long satin dresses. “To wear something old, beautiful, and borrowed meant the world to me,” she said. “Hopefully, it will bring us good luck since my parents have been married for 34 years.” Before the ceremony, the couple chose to have a first look. “The significance of that moment felt like we were the only two people in the world,” Lauren said. Following the nuptials, the bridal party was escorted to the reception on a trolley. “Pat and I bonded early on in our relationship over our love of literature,” she said. “Though our [tastes] of course differ greatly, we wanted to incorporate that theme in our decor.” Centerpieces included old books stacked atop each other, pictures of authors, and favorite quotes.
