There are thousands of designs stationery store owners and buyers see at the annual Stationery Show.  We asked some of the nation’s top paper retailers to share their thoughts on what lines made their “best in show” list. Here are Jessica Paulen-Glick from Judy Paulen Designs @ Bloomingdale’s top picks:

What did you see as the top wedding invitation trend for 2012 – 2013?

Foil was everywhere and I loved it!  Letterpress has needed a little glitz to dress it up and we saw many designers incorporating foils into their work.  Dauphine added the SHINE collection to their Weddings II Album which features foils and shimmer papers (you can see it here!), Smock added some new foil suites that feel fresh and modern and Spark showed some lovely pearl foils in their new Impress Collection.

Of the thousands of new designs showcased at the National Stationery Show the number one trend was color. Remember Vera Wang’s all-red runway show at the most recent New York Bridal Market?  And the bright blue details on Oscar de la Renta’s Spring 2013 gowns?  Stationery designers have taken the hint that weddings don’t have to be all white and created collections in a rainbow of colors from bright and bold to metallic and even neon hues.  Here’s a look at the colorful collections you’ll soon be seeing in stationery stores:

Dauphine Press launched a number of new suites for their Custom Wedding Portfolio II book. The new looks include foils (both silver and gold options) and edging colors.  The sherbert (mint and pale orange) palette of the Hamilton and Calistoga suites shown here is a fresh color combination.
