What was the one thing about the venue that made you know it was the one?
Very simple, the history of the place and the exposed brick. Butler’s Courtyard caught my eye after reading about its history, the fact it used to be an old bank and had the original brick and old cash vault. It fit so perfectly with my vintage-themed wedding since it had all these old beautiful unique features!
Which three details from your wedding were your favorites?
The centerpieces, the candy buffet, and the DIY decorations, as well as the bridesmaids’ clutch purse bouquets. The centerpieces took me a year to collect. I went to a bunch of antique stores, thrift stores and old places out in the country while on vacation to find old vintage tins and mason jars of all shapes and sizes. We then filled those tins with beautiful peach English roses, wax white flowers and lots of greenery. They were gorgeous! The guest favors, which my bridesmaids and I made, were also part of the centerpieces. We had mason jars full of the ingredients for Hootie Creek cookies and hot chocolate since winter was right around the corner! We made the labels and cute tops!
The candy buffet was the biggest hit of the whole evening! We had glass jars of all sizes with a mix of Kasey’s and my favorite candies with cute labels. I also found an old vintage suitcase at a antique place in Houston and incorporated it in the wedding by using it to hold our wedding cards. We also handmade all the wedding invitations and wedding programs. It was time-consuming but reflected our personal style!
My ultimate favorite detail of my wedding would be the bridesmaid bouquets. I wanted them to be something totally different and unique. We bought ivory silk vintage-looking clutch purses for each bridesmaid as a gift/bouquet. I told my florist (my uncle) that I wanted to fill the purses with lots of green and little white flowers to look like it was spilling over. So he did just that! He filled the purses with lots of green and white wax flowers and the girls carried them down the aisle instead of a regular bouquet of flowers. It looked stunning and almost a year later, it is still the one thing that people keep telling me that they loved! They came out better than I ever imagined!
