Boston-area couples gathered for an evening of wedding inspiration, fun, and education at the Lenox Hotel. While sipping specialty cocktails and tasting an assortment of goodies from the gorgeous spread, guests mixed,mingled, and picked up priceless tips  from Boston-area wedding vendors. Take a glimpse into the event, perfectly captured by BKB & CO.


Music helps set the mood for every great event, and 617 Weddings brought the fun. They showed off an extensive repertory of songs, from contemporary hits to American standards, creating just the right atmosphere at each moment throughout the evening.


Guests enjoyed seeing how the different design elements come together at weddings. Jeri Solomon Floral Design showcased their gorgeous arrangements…


And Rentals Unlimited brought a stunning table display.


Guests also loved showing their silly sides with photobooth fun by FB Events


And glowed in the expert portraits taken by BKB & CO, who also does cinema-style videography & fashion styling.


Dessert Works brought a sweet note to the event, offering guests stunning sweets displays along with tastings of various cake flavors.  


Guests enjoyed mini touch-ups from Maryelle Artistry, who showed off their expert beauty skills.


EFD Creative – Event Planning & Design offered their expert wedding planning tips, answering couples’ burning wedding questions about budgets, guest lists, etiquette, and beyond.

Jessica and David were married in a traditional church ceremony at Old South followed by a reception at the Exchange Conference Center in Boston, Mass. on September 27. “It was right on the water in the heart of Boston’s seaport district,” Jessica said. “We loved the historic architecture, style of the building, and wide open flow to the space.” The bride wore a strapless sweetheart lace fit ‘n’ flare wedding gown with a feathered skirt, accessorized with her hair in an updo, birdcage veil, jeweled sash, and a pair of Prada t-strap high heels, while the groom wore a black suit, accessorized with a striped tie. Bridesmaids wore short navy blue chiffon dresses in various necklines and carried bouquets of peonies, roses, cala lillies, and berries. Only close family and friends, approximately 150, sat in wooden pews to witness the exchanging of vows. Once it was sealed with a kiss, it was official! Cocktail hour began with drinks by the inner harbor. The reception took place shortly thereafter inside the ballroom. Tables were decorated with white linens, navy blue napkins, mercury glass centerpieces, and votive candles, surrouned by folding padded chairs. The New England-style menu for dinner. Think: lobster rolls, BBQ pork sliders, fish tacos, flank steak, and butternut squash ravioli. Yum! There were also messages in bottles at each place setting. “Each one had a special note in them for guests to open and enjoy,” she said. “I also did A LOT of the custom design work, including creating a logo and ‘branded’ feel to all detail elements to tie everything together.” A five-tiered fondant cake was cut and served for dessert in addition to whoopie pies. “Everyone loved the band,” Jessica said. “We had the best band, The Ward Eights, and they played non-stop. When it was time to wrap up, guests didn’t want to leave and chanted, ‘One more song’ for an encore. It was like being at our own private concert.” The newlyweds’ best advice? “Stay organized and get everything completely finished by two weeks before your wedding date,” she said. “That way, you can handle any last minute surprises. On the day-of, make sure to just tune out any planning aspect, have fun, and enjoy every minute. You have done all the work already so there is nothing else to worry about.” At the end of the night, lobster cookie cutters were passed out as favors, and they jetted off to their honeymoon in France and Spain.

Charming, Classic Library Wedding in Boston

Q & A with the Bride:

1. What was the one thing about your venue that made you know it was the one?

When searching for a venue, there were two things we looked for: location and character. The library had both. Situated in the heart of Boston’s Back Bay area, the Boston Public Library is literally across the street from five hotels, 10 minutes from the airport and surrounded by amenities. Since many of our guests were coming from out of town, we loved the idea that they wouldn’t have to worry about transportation or logistics for the wedding.

In spite of its central location, the Boston Public Library also has this incredibly unique quality. The moment I walked in for the first time, I was blown away by the colors, architecture and sheer scale of the building. I loved that the venue spoke for itself rather than needing to be “dressed up.” Additionally, I had always wanted to be married outside, and the library’s courtyard made that possible. I could go on forever! It is honestly the most magical place in the entire world!

2. Which three details from your wedding were your favorites?

1. The welcome bags and maps for out-of-town guests
2. The lighting! Both inside and outside, the lighting made the entire day feel like a fairy tale.
3. My dress! (I had a complete love affair with it!)

3. If you could offer one piece of advice to other couples planning their wedding, what would it be?

If your wedding is on a Saturday, pretend it is on Thursday of that week. Even if you have to stay up all night Wednesday, try to have everything done by Thursday (place-cards, welcome baskets, programs, etc). This way, you can actually ENJOY the wedding weekend and get some sleep the two nights before the big day! I can’t tell you how amazing it was to be DONE by Thursday when my guests started arriving.

4. Give us the one moment from your wedding that you can’t stop thinking about. 

I was dancing with Jon and all of our friends and suddenly one of the flower girls ran up and handed something to me. I looked down and realized it was a Skittle from the candy bar that was set up for guests at the base of the stairs. “Eat it!” she said. So, I did. I can’t tell you how strange/funny it was to be on the dance floor at our wedding, wearing a wedding dress and eating a Skittle. I can’t get that memory out of my head.

My favorite part of their celebration was their actual ceremony, preformed by their families. In Massachusetts, anyone of your choosing can be granted permission to preform your wedding ceremony. So with a quick wave of your pen, and a $25 processing fee, you can be magically transformed into a marrying machine, or at least for the day.
