Nicole and Chris were married at The Marquee Events & Catering in Hartford, Conn. on February 15 — the day after Valentine’s Day! “It was completely different than any other venue we looked at,” Nicole said. “We were immediately drawn to the venue’s uniqueness and charm and knew right away it was where we were going to have our wedding.” The bride wore a strapless sweetheart lace a-line wedding gown, accessorized with her hair half-up/half-down in loose curls, fingertip-length veil, and a pair of Kate Spade peep-toe high heels, while the groom wore a black suit, accessorized with a tie. Bridesmaids wore short black chiffon dresses and carried bouquets of red roses. “It snowed a lot on our wedding day, which, although, intially was not something I wanted, I love that it gave our wedding a winter wonderland feel,” she said. Before the ceremony, the couple opted for a first look on a grand spiral staircase at Hartford City Hall. The form of transporation to get there was a yellow school bus! “Reciting our vows that we wrote to one another in front of our family and friends,” Nicole said. “It was surreal and meaningful, and it’s a feeling I will never forget. Plus, it was all officiated by an aunt! “It made it extremely special,” she said. “We were able to really personalize the ceremony, and it ended up being exactly how we wanted.” The reception took place inside the Gershon Fox ballroom. Tables were decorated with white linens, tall hurricane vase centerpieces, and a cootie catcher at each place setting. In lieu of favors, a donation was made to the Alzheimer’s Society too. The newlyweds’ best advice? “The last thing you should be worried about is the weather,” Nicole said. “Photographers have gotten so creative with incorporating not so good weather in wedding photos, creating some pretty amazing pictures. My pictures would never have come out so beautiful had we not had such a beautiful snowy backdrop.”
Megan and Alex were married at Turf Valley in Ellicott City, Md. on August 30. “We could hold both the ceremony and reception there,” Megan said. “The garden was beautiful, hotel rooms were attached, and a bar for the after-party. Having everything in one spot was important to us.” The bride wore a v-neck ball gown, accessorized with a fingertip-length veil, jeweled sash, and a pair of Kate Spade bow pumps, while the groom wore a three-piece tan suit, accessorized with a striped tie. Bridesmaids wore long green chiffon dresses and carried bouquets of roses, calla lilies, and stock. Before guests arrived, the couple opted for a first look. The vows werre sealed with a kiss underenath the structured pergola. Programs also served double-duty as fans to beat the heat. Dinner and dancing followed in the ballroom. Tables were decorated with white linens, ivory napkins, lantern centerpieces surrounded by wreaths, laser-cut wooden numbers, and homemade heart-shaped cookies at each place setting. “During the last song of the night, all of our family and friends lifted Alex and I into the air while singing together,” she said. “It was a really fun and surreal moment.” The newlyweds’ best advice? “Don’t wrap yourself up in all the little details,” Megan said. “They are important, but focus on the big items that will will affect everyone’s overall experience. And don’t forget to take five minutes to step back and truly appreciate having all those you love in one room at the same time. It goes by so fast!” Honeymooning took place on Peter Island Resort in the British Virgin Islands.
Megan and Dan were married at the Saint Paul Hotel in Saint Paul, Minn. on June 29. “We knew we wanted a hotel, so we could do everything in one place,” Megan said. “The Saint Paul Hotel was classic and beautiful and didn’t require much additional decoration. It was perfect!” The bride wore a strapless sweetheart satin fit ‘n’ flare wedding gown, accessorised with her hair half-up/half-down in braided loose curls, a lace capelet, and a pair of Badgley Mischka rhinestone peep-toe high heels, while the groom wore a black suit, accessorized with a polka dot tie. Bridesmaids wore long black chiffon dresses in various necklines and carried bouquets of garden roses, ranunculuses, hydrangeas, and astilbes. Before the ceremony, the coupe opted for a first look and decided to take portraits in front of a mural with music celebrity stars like Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Edward Sharpe & The Magnet Zeros, The Ramones, and Tracy Chapman. “I think about Dan and I sitting at the reception and looking around the room,” she said. “We were so overwhelmed and overjoyed that all these people had come from near and far to celebrate us. It was a very surreal moment.” Tables were decorated with striped linens, tall hurricane vase centerpieces dripping with crystals, and votive candles. Dinner and dessert was one of the most important aspects. After all, it was at a private cooking class where Dan proposed. “Food is one thing that really brought us together and cemented our relationship,” Megan said. The newlyweds’ best advice? “Getting a planner for the day-of if you can,” she said. “Our planner from Premier Planning was fantastic and she really eased our stress and was beyond helpful in helping us plan and execute our day.”
Caitlin and Zach were married at The Oxford Hotel in Denver, Colo. on May 17. “It’s hard to limit to just one thing!” Caitlin said. “We just loved the feel of The Oxford Hotel, and it’s one of the oldest hotels in Denver, surrounded by a lot of new buildings, in a fun and high-energy location.” The bride wore a strapless satin ball gown with a pleated bodice and beading at empire waistline, accessorized with a pair of mint green leather high heels, while the groom wore a dark gray three-piece suit, accessorized with a solid tie. Bridesmaids wore short coral dresses and carried bouquets of roses, ranunculuses, peonies, hydrangeas, and lilacs. “We worked around a palette of lavender, mint, light blue, and orange, but didn’t limit ourselves to only that palette,” she said. “We wanted to bring in lots of cheerful colors for our spring wedding.” Before the ceremony, the couple opted for a first look. “Zach and I were both super nervous leading up to the ceremony, but we felt so much better after we saw each other for the first time,” Caitlin said. “It just took a lot of pressure off, so we could just feel happy, excited, and ready to get married.” How cool to do it in the city’s new Union Station terminal? The reception took place in the same room they said their vows! Tables were decorated with vintage vases and vessels, mercury glass votive candles, and scalloped numbers. In addition to a mini cake, there was also cupcakes — maple bacon- and mai tai fruit-flavored. The newlyweds’ best advice? Try not to procrastinate,” she said. “Your life will be so much easier if you take care of tasks early on rather than putting them off until the last minute.”
Maria and Mark were married at The Four Seasons Hotel in Atlanta, Ga. on April 26. “The grand staircase at the entrance – that’s what initially caught our eyes, but the overall service, ambiance, and reputation it had is what made it a clear choice for us,” Maria said. The bride wore a sweetheart lace fit ‘n’ flare wedding gown with feathers, accessorized with a ballerina bun and fingertip-length veil, while the groom wore a light gray suit, accessorized with a solid tie. Notice those two-toned pink strappy platform pumps? Hello, sexiness! “My mom gifted me small pendants to pin inside my dress,” she said. “They were my dad’s. I pinned them close to my heart, so he could be there to walk with me down the aisle.” Bridesmaids wore mix ‘n’ matched long chiffon dresses and carried bouquets of peonies, roses, ranunculuses, and astilbes. “The ceremony as a whole, especially our vows, was by far my favorite moment,” she said. “I was so incredibly happy, and still am.” Reception tables were surrounded by chiavari chairs, decorated with tall centerpieces, and love salts at each place setting, which served double duty as favors. “Absolutely ALL of the floral arrangements, especially the real cherry blossoms that we were so lucky to have!” Maria said. “Thank you for blooming at just the right time.” Guests were encouraged to guess the locations of the honeymoon. Eventually, they were told it was Paris, France, and Spain. The newlyweds’ best advice? “If anything or anyone gets you stressed, anxious, or nervous on your wedding day (or during the planning process), just remember what your wedding day is really about – you and your fiance’s love for one another,” she said.
