Melissa & Cody

May 26

Horseshoe Bay, Texas

What was the one thing about your venue that made you know it was the one?

My groom and I wanted to get married in Horseshoe Bay and we wanted to be outside, surrounded by the Lord’s creation.  My grandfather (who lives in Horseshoe Bay) had told me if I would be patient, that he and my grandmother were involved in opening a new club and that he thought it would be a perfect fit for me.  The “Great House” or clubhouse at Escondido was finished in May of 2011 so when we went to see if for the first time, sure enough, everything felt “perfect.” Our ceremony site was on the grand staircase that is nestled between the clubhouse and hole 18 on the golf course.  There is a stone bridge and a small creek that separated our ceremony site from our reception site.  My grandparents’s dream came true when we decided to get married at the club they helped open.

Give us the one moment in your wedding day you can’t stop thinking about.

I thought this would be hard for me to answer but there is no doubt what moment this was for me.  An hour before the wedding when the bridesmaids-groomsmen pictures had all been taken, Alexandra gave me about an hour to just focus on the moment.  Our ceremony began at 6:30pm so at 5:30pm Cody and I had our “moment.”  Alexandra used a corner where two walls came together outside in the courtyard to bring Cody and I for this special time.  Neither Cody or I wanted to see each other before the wedding, but we did want to hold hands, pray, and hear each other’s voices.   Alexandra made the wish come true and it was flawless.  She placed Cody on one side of the wall, while he had his back on the wall, I came in from the opposite direction and nestled myself on the other wall. Cody reached around and grabbed my hand from the opposite side and we just took in the moment.  We dated for seven years so we just kept saying, “I can’t believe this is really it!” He was so strong and I was very emotional.  He laced his fingers in mine and told me he couldn’t wait to see how beautiful I was today as he married me.  Then we bowed our heads and he prayed over the moment.  It was something I will never forget for the rest of my life.  The anxious feeling I had in my stomach, mixed with a giddy excitement and humbled heart.  It was breathtaking.
