The National Stationery Show isn’t just about wedding and party invitations.  Designers also showcase all sorts of party supplies from paper goods and wedding favors to woodland and nature-inspired wedding details.  Here’s an assortment of some of the creative party supplies you’re sure to want for your engagement party, bridal shower and wedding:

Festive Straws

Whether or not you’re planning on serving a signature cocktail you can create a festive drink by simply adding these retro-inspired colored straws to any glass.  Designed by Mara Mi, exclusively for BHLDN, the new wedding company from Anthropologie, these striped straws can even coordinate with your wedding palette or drink colors.  Available in plum, black, blue, grey, green, pink and yellow.  Set of 25, $6.

Beer Bottle Labels

If your caterer will be serving beer bottles at your wedding ask them to stick a custom label on each one.  These “I Do” Brew stickers can be customized to feature your monogram, wedding date and any other information you want to share.  Custom beer labels by Grapevine, price upon request.

A Usable Wedding Favor

The best type of wedding favor is one your guests will be able to enjoy.  Love birds are a popular wedding detail and these salt and pepper shakers will make an adorable wedding favor to match a love bird theme.  The white porcelain pair comes packaged in a pullout box that can be personalized with a Love Birds Paper Ribbon Wrap.  Love Bird Salt & Pepper Shakers in Gift Package by Wedding Star, $3.50 – $3.98 each depending on how many ordered.  Love Birds Paper Ribbon Wrap by Wedding Star, $0.58 each, minimum of 16 required

Thank-You Notes For Him

Sending thank-you notes for engagement and wedding gifts is not just the bride’s responsibility.  Encourage your groom to send thank-you notes of his own with a personalized set of correspondence cards.  The Forgetful Gentleman offers several stationery sets, including personalized note cards and correspondence systems with 12 cards for various occasions.  These sets are perfect for a groomsman gift too!  The correspondence sets include stamped envelopes, access to an online personal event reminder system and a copy of A Forgetful Gentleman’s Guide to Articulate Writing. The Forgetful Gentleman, prices vary.

Decorative Table Numbers

Your floral centerpieces don’t have to be the only pop of color on your reception tables.  These colorful table numbers are sold in a set of 1-25 and are available in stone, berry, chartreuse, teal and lavender.  Kaleidoscope Table Numbers by b.t. Elements, $50 for a set.  Visit to find a retailer near you.

Beautiful Butterflies

Add color to a tiered white wedding cake with this assortment of butterflies.  Available in a range of blues, yellows, greens and pinks, each butterfly is on a wire that can easily be slipped into your cake creating a decorative centerpiece for your reception.  Butterflies can also be placed in the frosting of a cupcake.  Beautiful Butterfly Cake Sets by wedding Star, $19.98 for 17 in varying sizes

A Retro Guestbook

If your wedding’s style can be described as retro a vintage typewriter is the perfect wedding guestbook.  Whether your retro timeline is from the 1920s to ‘40s or 1950s to ‘70s you’re sure to find the perfect style at Kasbah Moderne.  The company stocks a myriad of styles and will rent them to brides or wedding planners in the United States and Canada.  A three day rental fee averages $135 plus shipping both ways.  Kasbah Moderne can be reached via phone, 347-457-6025, or email,

Flirty Wedding Cake Topper

While you can top your wedding cake with anything that reflects your wedding’s theme or color palette the most popular cake topper is a figurine of a bride and groom.  Your grandparent’s topper was probably a bride and groom facing front but the 21st century bride and groom have more options, including comical, romantic and even fun.  The bride and groom in this wedding cake topper share a sweet kiss just before heading off for their honeymoon — note the suitcase the bride is standing on.  “A Kiss and We’re Off!” figurine by Wedding Star, $44.98

Festive Paper Goods

Celebrity wedding planner Mindy Weiss has expanded her line of invitations with Inviting Company.  The new party details — good for engagement parties, bridal showers, rehearsal dinners and weddings — include disposable frosted cups, paper cocktail napkins and coasters, all which have wedding-themed messaging and can be customized with the bride and groom’s names or initials and wedding date.  The company offers three designs in grey, light blue or pale green.  Email for details on pricing and how to place an order.

Classic Wedding Dress Photo

Your wedding photographer will probably capture your wedding dress hanging on a hanger off a high surface such as a door or bureau.  Why not stylize the shot by hanging your dress on a decorative cedar hanger.  This one by Figs and Ginger is cut from cedar, finished with a simple cotton rope and engraved with the word bride.  Bridesmaid, maid of honor or a custom name, word or phrase is also available.  Cedar Hanger by Figs and Ginger, $40.  Custom engraving an additional $10

Woodland Details

The creative team at Figs and Ginger create a range of wedding details in wood, which would be festive additions to a rustic or vintage-themed wedding.  This photo features a number of the latest designs including the Bunting Cake Topper (left), Wood Bunting (center) and Silhouette Cake Topper (right).

The Bunting Cake Topper is made of miniature banners and stands and can feature a custom combination of silhouettes and letters.  After the wedding the topper can be placed in your home, album or scrapbook.  Made with sustainably harvested wood, price upon request.

Wood Bunting can be designed to say “Just Married” or customized to the couple’s names or other phrase.  This reusable wedding detail can be passed down from generation to generation making it a new tradition in your family.  Made from sustainably harvested American Alder and backed with recycled paper and twine, each phrase is packaged unassembled to avoid tangling, so some assembly is required.  Small, medium and large lettering available, price varies by phrase.

The Silhouette Cake Topper features his and her silhouettes that after the wedding can be hung on your wall or placed in an album or scrapbook.  Made with sustainably harvested wood, approximately 3” x 6”, $25 each.
