Calla Lily Dude and I have lived together for a year or so now and we have all of the “traditional” wedding gift items already, so we decided to do a honeymoon registry for our wedding.
We’ll be honeymooning in Mendocino, CA for a great mix of outdoor adventures, such as sea kayaking and hiking, and pampering ourselves with delicious local foods and spa services. Oh, and did I mention the beautiful California coast as a backdrop to this adventure?
Honeymoon registries give your guests the opportunity to add their special touch to your honeymoon and help make your honeymoon something to remember!
If you are thinking about having a honeymoon registry, I recommend doing plenty of research before choosing a place to register with. We went with Traveler’s Joy because they were easy to set-up, had minimal fees, and will donate to charities of our choice through the I Do Foundation.
In your search, look for a business that is a member of the Better Business Bureau (BBB) online and keeps your gift contributions in an account with a reputable FDIC insured bank.
You’ll want to look into the fees (and there will be fees for any service that handles or stores money, you can’t get around that), so check out how fees are paid. Are the fees charged to you or to your guests? Make sure that the options for redeeming your gift meet your needs (once, several times, before wedding, after wedding, check, e-transfer, etc.).
Be wary of any site that requires a substantial set-up fee. Some travel agencies and resorts will require you to book travel through their business, so stay away from them if that is not what you are looking for. Above all, READ THE FINE PRINT!!!!! Make sure you understand the fees and how it all works BEFORE you sign up.
I am so happy that we decided to have a honeymoon registry instead of registering at a store!
Happy honeymoon registry-ing!!!!!
