Bridal Market Recap: Kenneth Pool

Posted by Jeffra on Apr 14, 2011

Brides looking for a touch of glamour on their wedding day must make an appointment at a Kenneth Pool trunk show.  The Spring 2012 collection is a mixture of dramatic silhouettes and necklines accented with metallic beading.

While some designers can go over board with beading, Amsale Abrerra does not.  Her careful placement of adornments add just the right amount of bling to the classic white (or ivory) wedding gown.

Here are my five favorite dresses from the collection:

1 – Tiered skirts have been popular for the last few seasons but the delicate silver embroidery and beading on the bodice and at the hem of each tier add a hint of glamour to the “Zuzanna” tulle ball gown.

2 – While strapless wedding dresses still reign as the #1 neckline with brides, straps do come in handy if you’d like a little assurance that your bodice won’t reveal more of your bosom than you’d like.  The tulle straps on this gown (“Silva”) were a detail that I can only describe as lovely.

3 – Belts have come along way since Chelsea Clinton wore a decorative one to her wedding last summer.  The “Anna” gown features  a very ornate but tailored crystal beaded belt and if you look closely you can see that it has tulle inserts.

4 – The “Alana” ball gown is in an interesting color.  It’s not white or ivory.  The taffeta fabric looks to me like a very light coffee color, which I think would look great on a variety of skin tones.

5 – For brides who need or want additional coverage for their arms the “Daria” ball gown was paired with a shredded tulle capelet — perfect for a religious ceremony and removable to reveal a strapless neckline for the reception.
