Bridal Market Recap: JLM Couture {Part I}

Posted by Jeffra on Apr 18, 2011

JLM Couture is comprised of five lines:  Jim Hjelm, Blush, Alvina Valenta, Tara Keely and Lazaro.  And in addition to wedding gowns they also design bridesmaid dresses.

The Fall 2011 collections have something for every bride, no matter what wedding-day look you’re going for — glamorous, romantic, dramatic, classic and even destination brides.

I divided the JLM post into two, so here’s post #1 with my top picks for the Jim Hjelm and Blush lines:

1 – Instead of full blooms adorning your wedding dress opt for scattered petals instead.  You get the same spring-y, garden feel but it’s more subtle and a sweet look.

(Style #8157)

2 – How can you not love the lace on this dress?!  I know it’s hard to see on the bodice, it’s clearer on the skirt.  And I don’t think you need the corsage-like detail on the neckline.  Better to accessorize this dress with a fabulous necklace.

(Style #8158)

3 – There’s a few seasonal trends going on with this dress:  the pleated bodice, the ribbon at the waist and the textured organza skirt.  And notice the ribbon/bow detail on the waist.  It’s made from horsehair.  There were only a few designers that showed horsehair at market.  I’m predicting we’ll see more of it at the fall shows.

(Style #8156)

4 – Not many designers showed short dresses this season, but of the few that were on the runway this one by Blush topped my list.  I liked that the bold pattern lace made a casual dress feel elegant but still casual.  You could wear it to a garden wedding, city hall or to a wedding on the beach.

(Style #1154)

5 – A lace halter neckline, you don’t see many of these designed and that’s why it made my list.  Planning to get married on the beach, destination wedding or not, this is the perfect gown for you!  Also by Blush.

(Style #1152)

P.S. These are just my top wedding dress picks.  Make sure to visit the JLM galleries to see their bridesmaid collections.
