Bridal Market Recap: Badgley Mischka

Posted by Jeffra on Apr 13, 2011

Brides looking for that red carpet look will fall in love with the Fall 2011 Badgley Mischka Bride collection.  Mark and James’ glamorous gowns for both the Badgley Mischka Bride and Mark & James – their bridge line – all feature a figure flattering sexy silhouette with handcrafted details including beading, three-dimensional flower appliques and fabric manipulation.

If you’re going for that glamorous Hollywood style make sure to try on these stunning gowns:

There’s something about an ornate skirt with a clean bodice or an ornate bodice paired with a clean skirt that I’m attracted to.  I think it’s that less is more thing I’ve mentioned a few times this week.  The “Maggie” dress shown here features the latter of the two.  The bodice is adorned with gold beading and embroidery while the trumpet-silhouette skirt is a beautifully draped ivory satin skirt.

How can you not love the Art Deco beading on the “Laura” dress?  The intricate beading on the neckline is made of pearls and crystals.  The “Laura Belt” is an add-on.  It mimics the same pattern on the neckline and features a floral detail constructed from the same beads.

Blush-colored (a/k/a light pink) gowns were very popular with designers this season.  The “Susannah” features a tulle pleated bodice with a cascade of organza roses on the one-shoulder strap.  The A-line skirt is covered from waist line to hemline in the same blush pink organza flowers.

Draping is probably the #1 fabrication technique designers used this season, and it’s most likely because it flatters every figure.   The “Katherina” dress with its dropped-waist silhouette features draped tulle over silk satin and similar to the “Susannah” dress mentioned above has rose accents on the neckline and all over the A-line skirt.

And from Mark & James, “Amy” features an origami-like ribbon detail across the bodice.  Perfect for a bride looking for a simple silhouette with a little personality.

P.S. Love the jewelry the models are wearing?  It’s all from the Badgley Mischka Jewelry collection, available at  And don’t forget to check out the latest Badgley Mischka shoe line available at
