Bridal Market Recap: Anne Barge

Posted by Jeffra on Apr 19, 2011

Both Anne Barge and La Fleur by Anne Barge (her bridge line) stayed true to the designer’s timeless wedding dresses — a mix of modern designs and classic styles.

Both lines featured floral embellishments, draped fabric and waist details, such as sashes and belts.

Here are my five favorite dresses from both collections:

1 – This trumpet skirt is draped on the side adding a subtle detail to an unadorned satin skirt.  The tank sleeves with somewhat of a scoop neckline is covered with floral embroidery.  From the Anne Barge collection.

2 – From La Fleur by Anne Barge, this A-line gown made of pearl silk with a tulle draped bodice, I think, is a clean canvas that will allow you to add a pop of color in your jewelry and shoes.  You may also want to forgo an all-white bouquet for a colorful one that will really pop as you make your grand entrance, as well as in your photos.

3 – Looking for something classic but on the light and airy side?  This Anne Barge wedding dress is Chantilly lace with a pleated silk organza overlay on the bodice and an A-line skirt made of silk organza with a wide border of Chantilly lace.  (Style Note:  Spaghetti straps are great if you don’t want strapless but those thin strapless won’t hold up a heavy dress.  I have known brides whose straps tore off during the reception.  To avoid a mishap ensure that your dress fits you like a glove and pack a sewing kit just in case.)

4 – Illusion necklines were popular this season and this design is rather unique.  This Anne Barge satin gown features a tulle one shoulder “strap” with three-dimensional floral embroidery that flows from the shoulder on to the bodice.

5 – This strapless draped trumpet wedding dress is shown in latte, but is also available in white, as well as pearl and blush.  The gown is adorned in the front but the back features rhinestone buttons on the full gathered train.  Remember that you want to look great from all angles.
