Bridal Gown Designer Profile: Sassi Holford

Sassi Holford, HayleySassi Holford is a London-based designer who’s sumptuous, classic gowns are well known throughout the UK.

Poised perfectly between traditional and modern sensibilities, Sassi’s gowns embody the romantic notion of a grand, elegant bridal gown while never compromising style or losing the feel of wearing something fresh and couture.  Sassi’s gowns are perfect for a bride-to-be searching for a gown with drama that will  make her feel her most beautiful.Sassi Holford, Lucy

One of the reasons Sassi’s gowns, in particular, has a special place in my heart is the fit.  Each bodice has built-in corseting (read: bra) that makes each design fit like an absolute dream. Brides wearing her gowns often do not need to wear a bra!  Surprisingly, with all of that foundation built in, her gowns are comfortable and very wearable.  She creates all her gowns in 100% silks and produces them right in London.

Sassi’s gowns are relatively new to the US, but she has been designing for over 25 years and, before opening her own salons in Chelsea and Taunton in the UK,  was carried at Harrods!  She also designed the wedding gown recently worn by Autumn Kelly to the Queen of England’s oldest grandchild’s (Peter Phillips) wedding.  If that doesn’t stir up romantic notions, I don’t know what will!

PS – Sassi Holford herself will be in New York at Gabriella’s Bridal Salon on October 15th and 16th for a Trunk Show.  If you are in the area and looking for your gown, schedule an appointment to see the collection!
