Tips and Advice
Drink Ideas- Ultimate Cosmopolitan

Many of you have had the drink made famous in the 90's by Sex In The City, but what truly makes a great Cosmo? Here is With A Twist Bartending's favorite version.

Ingredients:
2 parts Citron Vodka
1 part Grand Marnier
1 part Cranberry Juice
3 lime wedges

In a shaker full of ice add Citron, Grand Marnier, cranberry juice and three lime wedges squeezed and droped into shaker. Shake vigorously for at least 10 seconds and strain into a chilled martini glass.

The Grand Marnier adds great complexity and depth that you just wont get with Cointreau. Garnish this citrus drink with a lemon twist. Dont forget to make the twist over the glass. This ensures that the aromatic oil get into the drink and on the rim of the glass. Leaving the limes in the shaker while you shake the drink will ensure that their is a little lime pulp in the cocktail. I cant underestimate the shaking enough, you should be able "to skate on it", meaning there is tiny pieces of ice shards on top of the drink.

The most common way to screw up a perfectly good Cosmo is to use to much cranberry. The Cosmo is about the Citron Vodka and Grand Mariner coming together with citrus, not cranberry juice. The cranberry only adds a little tartness and color- which should be bright pink!! If it looks like a glass of cranberry juice, send it back!

For those guys out their that arent into pink drinks try substituting white cranberry juice, for a crystal clear Cosmo!

Cheers!
