I am a Lay Marriage Celebrant appointed by the United Methodist Church and granted authorization to celebrate the Rites of Marriage within the limits of the Commonwealth of Virginia.  In additional to celebrating ceremonies in Virginia, I'm licensed in Washington, DC and Maryland. With more than 18 years experience, I possess the skills to assist you plan a cross-cultural, religious or non-religious, interfaith denominational ceremony.

I officiate wedding celebrations in just about every venue imaginable, from parks and backyards to churches and ballrooms, hospital chapels and historic properties. Also, I've officiated theme weddings such as Jimmy Buffet, renaissance and Hawaiian luau. And I've traveled for destination weddings. Regardless of where, when, themed or not, I will work with you to ensure your wedding is about you!

I encourage you to consider pre-marital counseling. It doesn't matter how long you have known your partner or whether you currently live together, counseling helps to identify underlying issues that may get in the way of having a meaningful and successful marriage. The state of marriage is often viewed as the most complex of human relationships. Pre-marital assessment of interpersonal skills and counseling services are available.

In April 1992 I conducted my first wedding and to date I've presided at more than 2000 weddings. I hold a M.Ed. in Family Counseling from the University of Maryland and I'm a trained Prepare/Enrich counselor. Additionally, I am a Virginia Certified Mediator, Conflict Coach, Stephen Minister, and a Distinguished Toastmaster, the highest individual recognition bestowed by Toastmasters International.
