Countless times I have heard couples express that their venue has a coordinator that can help them or they have a friend/relative who is willing to help with the details. Therefore they see hiring a wedding consultant as an added expense. Herein lies the problem.  The first responsibility of an on site coordinator (church and reception site) is to the venue, not the bride and groom. These staff coordinators may only supervise vendors contracted through the facility. In most cases their responsibility ends when your event begins.  In addition, they are often ill equipped to give the type of personal service you will need outside of the venue during the planning process.  You could also ask a family member or friend to take on the responsibilities of helping you plan your event.  However, the individual responsible for reception site set-up will forgo witnessing your wedding vows.
