Tips and Advice
Q: How Do You Choose A Good Videographer? A: Since every couple is different, what makes a wedding video appealing is much a matter of personal taste and style. Therefore, it is important that you review the work of several videographers to find the one whose style best matches what you want. You can start your search by asking for recommendations from friends, wedding photographers, and ceremony-site coordinators. Many videographers have websites with short samples on them, so take a look if you can to see if you like what they’ve done before setting appointments to meet with them. Once you begin meeting with individuals, request to see an entire wedding video from start to finish -- the same version the bride and groom received. By viewing an entire sample, you’ll get a much clearer idea of what your finished product might actually look like. When reviewing, keep an eye out for technical standards, such as good picture color and clarity; quality lighting and sound; well-composed shots; and good camera work (nothing dizzying or disorienting). You should also take note of the videographer’s style. Does the video have strong emotional impact? Is the tone romantic, edgy, or documentary in style? Do you like or dislike any special effects or editing? Was the videographer unobtrusive? Once you see a video that is indicative of what you’re looking for, measure the personality of the videographer himself. He will be with you all day, as well as interacting with your guests, so look for someone who seems affable and who you’re comfortable with. By following our advice, you can successfully narrow the field to just those videographers who create the kind of wedding video you’ll enjoy for years to come. -weddingchannel.com
