Frequently Asked Questions for Photography
Do you offer special techniques such as hand-coloring or toning?
I hand re-touch all of my photographs. Each photograph is available in a variety of finishes: B&W, vintage, sepia, high contrast, etc.
 
Do you have experience shooting in various lighting situations?
I have experience in every type of lighting imaginable. Indoor, outdoor, snowy, sunny, cloudy, you name it I've done it!
 
Is your media preference film or digital?
I currently use all digital equipment.
 
How many photographers do you work with?
I am the lead photographer and over the course of the next few months I will be testing an assistant.
 
Do you guarantee your presence at the actual event?
Absolutely! It would take an act of God to keep me away.
 
Do you sometimes book yourself for more than one event in a day? Weekend?
No. I take a limited number of weddings each year to ensure I devote my full attention to the bride!
 
Do you have a replacement photographer in case you become unavailable on the day of the event?
Yes. I have a network of photographers who are willing to assist.
 
What kind of equipment do you typically bring with you on the day-of?
Everything! 2 cameras, 5 lenses, 7 memory cards, various props, light diffusers, etc.
 
Do you bring back-up equipment to the event in case of malfunction?
Yes, I bring a multiple of everything to ensure all equipment is available.
 
Do you charge hourly or full day?
I have a variety of packages. They typically start at about 4-6 hours and then go up to a full day.
 
What is your policy on taking breaks? If you require a meal break, do you require that the client provide your meal?
I run pretty much non-stop, except for the occasional restroom break or snack. I never break during an important time.
 
Do you charge for travel?
Yes. I do not charge if it is within 60 miles. After that the bride and groom and I work out a reasonable fee to cover lodging/flights/gas.
 
How soon after the event are the proofs ready for viewing?
Typically photos are ready about 4-5 weeks after the wedding. I like to send out a couple "sneak peeks" to the bride and groom a couple of days after the wedding.
 
In what format are the initial proofs offered?
The proofs are typically on CD.
 
How long can the client keep the proofs?
You may keep the proofs as long as you like.
 
Do you retain the copyright for the photos?
I retain the primary copyright, with an exclusive release to the bride and groom.
 
Do you reserve the right to publish the photos?
The bride and groom are able to publish the photos themselves after I release the copyright.
 
Do you provide the digital files and/or negatives (or copies of the negatives) to the client?
Yes. I provide digital files of all of the photos taken from the wedding.
 
Will images be available for viewing online?
Yes. The images will be available on the website.
 
What kind of albums do you offer?
I offer a variety of albums. The traditional albums by Renaissance. I also offer coffee table "digital" style books. There is an album for every price point.
 
When will the client get the final album?
You will receive the final book 6-9 weeks after your wedding, depending on the type of book. Custom traditional books take up to 9 weeks.
