Tips and Advice
Place Cards-
Place Cards are not only practical but also thoughtful. Your guests will truly appreciate the time you have taken to ensure that a place has been set just for them. Although this requires advance planning of the table assignments, it is essential to gracious hosting. You will not want your "favorite grandmother" to accidentally end up seated at the back of the room next to the kitchen door.
Something old, Something, new ........
Something old symbolizes the recognition of the constancy and continuity of the past, which in turn offers comfort. Something new (usually the bridal gown), suggests a wonderfully new and bright future together for the couple. Something borrowed (something borrowed from a happily married friend or kin, such as a handkerchief, or piece of jewelry) signifies the hope that the new couple would also be blessed with a blissful and joyous life together, through the loan of this borrowed article. The something blue is often the bride's garter. A penny, considered to be good luck, was placed in the bride's shoe.
Wedding newsletters-
Wedding Newsletters are a fun and informative way to share your "story". Include brief articles about "how you met", the "proposal", "wedding plans" and even "future plans". Include any other entertaining stories about your journey towards becoming Husband and Wife. Guests could find your "Nuptial Newsletter" enclosed with a Gift Basket, slipped under their Hotel Room door, or sent to their home several weeks in advance, by traditional mail. A bulletin style sheet of paper works very well for this purpose. This is an exciting chapter in your life. . . spread the NEWS!
What is a favor?
A Favor is a small gift to express your appreciation. Always remember, it is a good idea to attach a miniature card and add a personal touch. Sometimes these are referred to as confetti cards. Prepare with heartfelt message, monogram or poetry. Think of these as tiny greeting cards that should accompany each of the favors you have prepared for your guests. This is a wonderful opportunity to say Thank You!
A Few Words of Advice-
We sincerely want you to have your perfect wedding. Here are just a few words of advice:
1. Wedding Planning is like marriage . . . approach it as a team.
2. Focus on what is really important.
3. Punctuate your wedding planning with "wedding free" outings.
4. Don't PROCRASTINATE . . . it will only add anxiety and disappointment to the planning process.
5. Enjoy . . . there will never be another time like this!
AND may you live Happily Ever After!
Choosing Your Flowers-
It is best to book your florist approximately 6 months prior to your wedding. Especially if your wedding is to take place during a popular month (like May to August). Prior to picking out your flowers, it is wise to have your ceremony and reception locations determined. These will influence your decisions. Outdoor weddings don't usually require as many flowers to set the mood. Church ceremonies may call for a decorated alter or pews but some churches have restrictions on decorations.Budget can also play a role in your selections. Consult with your florist as to the types of flowers that will be in season for your wedding. Many flowers have very specific growing periods and can become quite costly outside of this range. Certain seasons may present different challenges such as a winter wedding. Berries and greenery can be a great alternative at this time of year. Think outside the box. Floral arrangements can be quite striking when combined with fruits such as limes or lemons. Try adding seed pods or grasses as an alternative. Nowadays, eclectic mixes can be quite stunning. Pick one color as your floral theme but mix and match your vases and containers to add personality to your tables and centerpieces. The possibilities are endless.
