Frequently Asked Questions
DJ Details
Describe your DJ style:
Moderate, with a dynamic that picks up through the evening.
How many other DJs do you work with?
None, it's just me.
Do you have replacement DJs in case you become unavailable on the wedding day?
Yes, I network with other professionals in the event of emergency.
Do you specialize in any ethnic and/or international events?
Not necessarily, however I'm very open minded and sensitive to the needs of other cultures.
Is the bride able to meet the DJ before booking?
Of course! I think it's the only way to hire a DJ.
If you do not have one of the songs pre-requested by the couple, do you require that they provide it?
Not if it's commercially available (unless it's very obscure...)
What is your usual attire?
A semi-formal tux and colors matching your theme where possible. It's always possible to dress up or down as needed.
Do you bring your own equipment?
Absolutely, with full back up.
What (if any) special equipment, such as disco balls or lighting, is offered with your service?
Multiple wireless microphones and dance lighting are included, as well as ceremony/cocktail music equipment.
What is your minimum amount of time you will DJ for?
I commit to a particular day, so I book DJ service as UP TO 5 hours, anything less is all the same to me.
Do you usually emcee the reception and/or talk between songs?
As needed. Yes I emcee the reception, however I try very hard not to overdo it.
Do you take any breaks?
No.
Will you arrange for recorded music to play during your breaks?
n/a
Do you require a meal break? If yes, do you require that the wedding party provide your meal?
No.
How much time do you usually need to set up? Do you require that the site and/or couple provide a table for you to setup on?
An hour and a half, although I usually arrive earlier. I bring my own table if needed and use the site's if available.
Do you have any extra space requirements?
No, actually I have a very small footprint. (I sure do love electronic equipment in the 21st century!)
What is your overtime rate?
$55 per hour or $30 per half hour.
Do you charge for travel expenses? If yes, how much do you charge?
Phoenix metro area is included. Outside of that, travel is negotiable, typically from $50 to $150 for other parts of Arizona.
Videography Details
What primary style, such as traditional or documentary, do you identify with?
Combination.
Are you a commercial studio or home-based business?
Home-based.
What types, such as unedited footage or special effects, of videography do you offer?
Moderately edited one camera or two camera, in SD or HD.
Describe any special editing services you offer:
A "highlights" option (a highly edited short form extra) is available for a modest additional charge.
Do you have lighting equipment to accommodate a more dimly-lit event?
Yes.
Does the bride get to meet the videographers before the wedding?
Absolutely!
How many videographers do you work with?
We are a husband and wife team. Two videographers are potentially available, or a DJ and videographer, etc. - Cameron is a DJ and Videographer (but not at the same time), Robbie is a Videographer, so we have various combinations of our services depending on the situation. Cameron is the sole editor.
Do you guarantee your presence at the actual event?
Of course!
Do you book yourself for more than one wedding in a day? Weekend?
Only if the husband and wife are working separately on a given day. Never more than one wedding per person per day.
Do you have a replacement videographer in case you become unavailable on the wedding day?
Yes, we network with other professionals in the event of emergency.
What kind of equipment do you typically bring with you on the day-of?
Each person has a camera and case, plus a tripod.
Do you bring back-up equipment to the event in case of malfunction?
Yes.
Do you require a meal break? If yes, do you require that the wedding party provide your meal?
No.
How many breaks do you usually take throughout the day?
Usually just one during dinner; as a general rule, folks don't particularly like to be recorded while eating. Otherwise we're normally on standby if we're waiting for something to happen.
Do you charge overtime?
Only in the case of excessive production needs. As we are dedicated to you and your day upon booking, we are very generous with our production time, often as much as 8 or 10 hours! We don't believe in "watching the clock" when we should be worried about you and your special day.
Do you give access to your raw footage?
If needed.
Do you reserve the right to use a video in the future for promotions, contests, etc.?
Not necessarily.
Is the bride involved in the editing process? If so, how much input does the bride have in editing?
I'm open to suggestion. The truth is, in 7 years of video editing I've only had occasion to re-edit twice. I'm very meticulous while editing.
How long does it take for the bride to get the video?
By 5 weeks from the event date for a wedding.
