How does your venue determine the cost of the space?
The Carpenter House features affordable packages for a Wedding Ceremony Only, Wedding/Reception Package, Reception Only Package, and Wedding/Mini-Reception Package. Couples seeking a one-hour rental for a simple ceremony can also be accommodated during off-peak times.
Do you offer any special services?
The Carpenter House offers referrals for many quality vendors who have provided special services to brides at our venue, such as officiants, carriages, florists who will design arrangements for the fountain, musicians, videographers, etc.
Do you offer any special packages for rehearsal dinners?
The Carpenter House charges a flat rental fee/nonrefundable deposit to rent the house for a rehearsal dinner. Prices vary according to the day of the week or weekend. Additional costs are incurred for the menu, which must be ordered through The Carpenter House, the wine/champagne service, and the gratuity.
Do you offer additional items for the ceremony?
The Carpenter House is fully decorated for a Wedding/Reception at any time. With the purchase of a package, there is no extra charge to use our candelabras, silk floral arrangements, unity candle stand, and sound system (CD's only).
Do you rent other items such as linens, tables, or flatware?
The Carpenter House has on hand an easel, reception table pen, silk floral arrangements for the tables, an assortment of tables, linens, baskets, cake cutting utensils, punch bowl, cups, china, silverware, glassware, white cocktail napkins and champagne flutes. These are provided to our brides at no additional charge with the purchase of a reception package.
What is your staff-to-guest ratio?
With the purchase of a Wedding/Reception Package or a Reception Only Package, The Carpenter House will provide one staff person for every 25 people.
Do you require clients to use a specific list of vendors?
For an additional charge, The Carpenter House provides both an Appetizer/A la Carte Menu and a Buffet Dinner Menu through a select group of vendors. All food must be ordered through The Carpenter House. Brides hire the officiant, florist, photographer, and videographer and musicians/D.J. of their choice. (Referrals available)
Do you require the client to use your musicians? If you do not require this, is that an additional fee to bring in one's own musicians?
There is no additional fee to bring in outside musicians to The Carpenter House.
Do you have any special side rooms that can be rented out for the occasion?
Each event booked at The Carpenter House is afforded exclusive use of the house and grounds for the time alloted.
Can the client provide their own alcohol if desired?
With the purchase of a Wedding/Reception Package or the Reception Only Package, The Carpenter House allows brides to bring in their own wine/champagne for the reception at no additional charge.
How many power outlets does the venue have?
The Carpenter House is a home with the standard number of outlets per room that one would expect to find. There are also a limited number of outdoor electrical outlets available.
What restrictions (if any) on decorations?
The Carpenter House does not permit red/orange rose petals either inside or outside the house. No artificial rose petals or bird seed is permitted outdoors. No open flame candles (unity candle and tapers excepted), glitter or confetti are allowed indoors or outdoors at The Carpenter House. Certain areas of the house are already decorated and may not be altered, including the stairway, candelabras and wedding arch.

Music will be played outdoors until 10:00 p.m. only. Any music will be subject to decibel restrictions, as The Carpenter House is located in a residential area.

There are no restrictions on attire, other than there must be some.
What restrictions (if any) on noise levels?
The Carpenter House is over 100 years old and can not be subjected to excessive decibel levels. The sound system is not accessible to the public and is controlled by the wedding coordinator. Music will be played outdoors until 10:00 p.m. only. Any music will be subject to decibel restrictions, as The Carpenter House is located in a residential area.
If your site is in a public location, is the client required to get any permits?
There are no permits required at The Carpenter House. All events must end by 11:00 p.m.
Does your venue often accommodate more than one event at a time?
The Carpenter House books only one event at a time.

The Carpenter House can provide referrals for security upon request.

The bride's dress code is The Carpenter House dress code.
Can you provide a coat check?
Coat checking is not available at The Carpenter House; however, there are beds upstairs where coats can be placed during events.

At The Carpenter House, there are 4 bathrooms. There is one bathroom downstairs for guests who can not go up and down stairs, and there are 3 more bathrooms available upstairs.
Describe your parking facilities:
The Carpenter House is in a residential area, so street parking is not allowed. There are six parking places in the driveway for the wedding party and a dozen parallel parking places around the curve at the end of 16th street. The city of Plano allows the use of the Municipal Parking Lot one block west of The Carpenter House at no charge. For Wedding/Reception Packages and Reception Only Packages booked for 51 people and up, The Carpenter House will provide, at no additional charge, a golf cart to shuttle drivers from L Avenue to the Carpenter House.
