1) Start by finding some inspirational photos of the makeup looks you like. You can find them on wedding websites and in magazines. One photo may have the intensity of the eye makeup that you want. Another may have the lip color you like. Still another may show the look you want your cheeks to blush with.
2) Set aside time in your schedule (about 30 - 40 minutes) for a few practice sessions.
3) Wear a light colored top, such as white, cream or ivory, so that you will have a better idea of how the makeup will look with your gown. And don’t forget your wedding jewelry. Bridal makeup with just jeans and a tee shirt does not accurately represent the complete look.
4) Consider the lighting. If you will be getting married in the daytime then you should practice during the day. Set up your practice area in a room with great natural light. If your wedding is in the evening then you should practice in the early evening and set up your practice area in a room with similar lighting to your reception hall.
5) Take your time and enjoy each practice session. Take notes on the tips that worked well for you, and write down your final step by step process, so that you will have it to follow on your wedding day.
6) Take photos after each practice session to compare looks and to see how much your skills have progressed.
7) And don’t forget, the greatest makeup you can wear is a smile. So put one on!
