Jan was featured in several Bay Area newspapers.  The Contra Costa Times said "her creations are so realistic in appearance you can almost smell them . . . she is nothing short of an artist".  In the past three years she has won over 20 first place awards in cake decorating competitions.  In 2008 her work was featured in American Cake Decorating Magazine, and most recently, in the 2009 January/February and March/April editions of Mailbox News Magazine (a national cake decorator publication).

Tips and Advice
Individual Cakes as Centerpieces

A small centerpiece cake at each table is a growing trend that will delight your guests and add to the magic of your special day. Some brides are selecting this option in lieu of one large wedding cake.   When making your final decision, consider the following:

Size: Your cake size should be in proportion to the size of your tables, place settings and stemware. If you have 8 place settings per table, for example, you would not want a 6 inch cake. Although this size cake serves 8 people, it is no bigger than a salad plate and would get lost among the place settings. If there is stemware on the table, the cake would need to be elevated so as not get overpowered.

Cost: Multiple small cakes require more time, and materials, than a single large cake. This can increase the cost. Each cake must be leveled, iced, decorated and placed on individual cake plates. If the cake needs to be elevated above the stemware, additional supplies are needed.

Number of servings: In order to achieve the overall look for your table, you may need a larger cake, which equates to additional serving sizes. The greater the number of servings, the greater the cost.
