I get asked all the time what I think the trends are for this wedding season. I have put together a list of my what's HOT for weddings in 09'
Vintage Fashions and Decor
Having a vintage-inspired wedding is a great way to add some style without adding a lot of cost. 1920’s weddings will be especially hot this year. Especially look for brides wearing birdcage veils and fascinators. If you’re a Project Runway fan, you’ll definitely recall Kenley’s fascinators – the feathery charms that perch on your head. But many other designers also make a wide range of fascinators. They look both vintage and modern, whimsical and classic, all at the same time.
Add the vintage touch to your reception with lace table overlays and crystal chandeliers.
Color Pallette
The key phrase is lots and lots of color. The most popular color for next season is purple, from pale lavender to deep purples and every shade in between. For winter, black, plum and navy will take center stage. For Spring it will be latte, coral and lavender. For Summer, mauve, sage and turquoise will dominate and for Fall, the top hits for colors will be emerald, burgundy and chocolate. Shiny metallics will be what couples who want added glitz will choose.
Bolder colors will be carried through from invitations to linens, wedding stationery and wedding cakes. It's all about breaking up the white décor and wedding gown with hot flashes of color..
And there will still be those who opt for black . . . black and white color combinations make a really sophisticated statement. Black orchids, albeit both rare and expensive, will make a fashionable statement floating on a pond, or in a fountain
Farm Weddings
No, I'm not talking about getting married amongst the combines, or having a cow for your bridesmaid. But farms can be an affordable place to get married with a lot of charm. Several of them allow your guests to interact with the animals, while others just provide idyllic pastoral settings. Add some additional down-home touches like gingham tablecloths, pitchers of jam or other country wedding style. Look for a farm that has a barn suitable for a reception.
