Frequently Asked Questions for Photography
What primary photographic style do you identify with?
Contemporary, Photojournalism

What do your packages include?
Albums, Custom Graphic Design, Digital Files, Flush Mount, High Resolution Images, Prints, Proof CD of All Images, Thank You Cards, Video Montage

Do you have liability insurance?
Yes

Do you offer special techniques such as hand-coloring or toning?
Basic editing (color, tone and contrast correction) and specialty editing (black and white, sepia, romantic glow, black and white with touches of color) and major editing (removing blemishes, glare, etc.)

Do you have experience shooting in various lighting situations?
I work with a diverse range of lighting. My favorite lighting is near sunset when the sun casts a golden glow over everything. I also work well indoors in churches and reception venues.

Is your media preference film or digital?
I grew up on film and it is a love of mine, but for weddings it is all digital. I love the variety and options I have with digital images, and it ensures I capture your moments perfectly!

How many photographers do you work with?
I am the primary photographer and often work alone, but I have a network of second shooters as well as my husband "photographer in training" that works with me. There is a fee to hire a professional second shooter.

Do you guarantee your presence at the actual event?
Absolutely!

Do you sometimes book yourself for more than one event in a day? Weekend?
No way. One wedding per day. If the events are nearby and timing works out, I will shoot a wedding two days in a row, but it will not impact either event.

Do you have a replacement photographer in case you become unavailable on the day of the event?
Yes. I have a network of other photographers offering a similar style that I can contact. However, it hasn't happened yet!

What kind of equipment do you typically bring with you on the day-of?
My camera, a back up camera, memory cards, batteries, flashes, diffusers, lighting (if necessary), and a bridal emergency bag.

Do you bring back-up equipment to the event in case of malfunction?
See above!

Do you charge hourly or full day?
Both. Depends on your package!

Are you available to shoot extra hours? If yes, how much do you charge for extra hours?
Yes, the overtime rate is $125 per hour or fraction thereof.

What is your policy on taking breaks? If you require a meal break, do you require that the client provide your meal?
Just one to eat, and maybe to grab a drink of water here and there.

Do you charge for travel?
Depends on the distance, but not usually.

How soon after the event are the proofs ready for viewing?
About three weeks depending on the season. My goal is always less than one month and I get one image out to you via email in the first week or so.

In what format are the initial proofs offered?
The proofs are available digitally by viewing a private website.

How long can the client keep the proofs?
The website is valid for 3 months but can be extended.

Do you retain the copyright for the photos?
Yes, unless you purchase the rights with the DVD of digital negatives.

Do you reserve the right to publish the photos?
Yes.

Do you provide the digital files and/or negatives (or copies of the negatives) to the client?
If purchased.

Will images be available for viewing online?
Yes, through Pictage.com

What kind of albums do you offer?
Many, many types of albums! Magazine style, flush mount, leather cover...the list goes on and on.

When will the client get the final album?
If you order an album you will receive it in 6-8 weeks.

Tips and Advice
1. Meet your potential photographer in person!! This person will be with you for most if not all of your day. You need to make sure your personalities click and that you feel comfortable with them. Make sure both you and your fiance meet the photographer. If you are uncomfortable or annoyed, it will show in your images.

2. Check out several full galleries from your photographer. The portfolio on a photographer's website is usually their favorite/best work. You need to make sure your photographer can capture your entire day well, not just a handful of great shots.

3. Save up for a healthy budget! Most people splurge on food, drinks, favors and cake, but those things are all gone after your wedding day is over. All you will have left are your photographs, so don't skimp on this! You will have these images the rest of your lives!!
