Do you offer special techniques such as hand-coloring or toning?
I offer all sorts of special services:
Each digital image is hand-processed by me for the most unique and powerful result.
I offer Super 8 Wedding films.
I offer bridal/boudoir/"pin-up" portraits, engagement portraits, "trash the dress" sessions, "take two" shoots (done soon after your wedding, in whatever clothes you want, as a compliment to your wedding day portraits).
With a background in and love for graphic design, i produce albums of all kinds for clients, focusing on the increasingly popular coffee table book.
Sepia, Black & White, Cross-Processed/Alt Color Images.
Do you have experience shooting in various lighting situations?
I have experience with all types of lighting situations.
Is your media preference film or digital?
I prefer to work in film and digital, and find a sincere reason and love for both.
How many photographers do you work with?
I usually work by myself with an assistant, but I have many professional photographers that i shoot with if two photographers )or more) are necessary to best capture your event.
Do you guarantee your presence at the actual event?
I 100% guarantee my presence at the event, unless an act of God, or severe illness keeps me from being conscious enough to get there. In those cases, (which have never occured to date), I would arrange for one of my colleagues to arrive and shoot the event for me.
Do you sometimes book yourself for more than one event in a day? Weekend?
I never book more than one wedding a day, and I tend to not over book a weekend either. I want to be fresh, rested and arrive at your event with an open mind and heart, so I try to make the weekend your time. If I am asked to shoot a wedding on an alternate day, such as a Friday or Sunday, I will consider the size of the second wedding, and the amount of work it will take to capture, before I commit.
Do you have a replacement photographer in case you become unavailable on the day of the event?
Yes.
What kind of equipment do you typically bring with you on the day-of?
Well, let's see.. it can depend on the event, the size of the guest list, etc., but in general, I have an arsenal in my bag :)
I carry two professional digital systems, one with an alternative lens, and one with a nice versatile wedding lens that lets me get close or wide depending on the moment. I enjoy capturing candids of people when they don't know I'm taking their photo, so that requires a nice zoom lens. I bring a Nikon D-3 body, and a Nikon D-300 body, both outfitted with lenses described above. I also bring a backup digital body, just in case of disaster.
I also have three of my favorite medium format film cameras with me that I use before during and after the ceremony, and to capture portraits and still lives. I put my film cameras away for the reception for ease of getting around the crowd.
I bring flashes (2), a battery pack, several reflectors, diffusers and other accessories.
All this gear sounds like i show up with three suitcases and three assistants, but I have it paired down to the necessities and it's a very compact and tidy little bundle!
Do you bring back-up equipment to the event in case of malfunction?
Yes, of course.
Do you charge hourly or full day?
I charge a full day rate, then clients can add hours on if need be, so both.
Are you available to shoot extra hours? If yes, how much do you charge for extra hours?
yes, I'm available for shooting overtime if necessary. I charge $300 per hour extra, which covers my time and the time to process all the extra images that I will shoot. If there is a second pro-shooter with me, and they stay as well, it's $300 each. For an assistant to stay, it's and extra $100 for them added to my $300.
What is your policy on taking breaks? If you require a meal break, do you require that the client provide your meal?
None, except to eat and replenish :)
Do you charge for travel?
Yes. Any fees that I accrue in getting to, leaving and photographing your wedding, (including ferry fees, hotel rooms, rent-a-cars, gas (if over a certain amount), special rented items you require, etc), must be reimbursed by the client.
How soon after the event are the proofs ready for viewing?
Proofs are usually ready before two months after the wedding in my busy season (summer), and one month in my slower season (winter).
In what format are the initial proofs offered?
I offer my clients a printed proof book, containing 3x2" thumbnails of each final photograph I present. Clients also get a password protected website viewing gallery with a jpg version of all of your final photographs. Prints can be purchased directly from the site, and so the gallery is an excellent way for your guests to order prints easily and without hassle. I keep my prints prices very very reasonable, to facilitate the process.
I include in each wedding package a DVD slideshow of my top 200+ images, set to music. The slideshow is part of the final presentation.
How long can the client keep the proofs?
I don't usually offer proof prints as part of my basic packages, but they can be included if clients want them. I offer a proof book, which shows a 3x2" thumbnail of each photograph, and the book is the client's to keep.
Do you retain the copyright for the photos?
Yes, most photographers retain the copyright to each photograph they take. I give my wedding clients limited permissions to duplicate/reprint their images for their personal use, (prints for guests, themselves and family, etc.), and ask only that they not distribute, appropriate or publish any of my images without my written permission and a photo credit.
Do you reserve the right to publish the photos?
Yes, I reserve the right to use any of my images in the promotion of my business. I use the utmost tact and discretion when choosing images that best represent the type of work I love to do, and I would never use any images in a defamatory way. Special arrangements can be made, if the images are of a sensitive nature, and i rarely use images from my Bridal/Boudoir Sessions in my advertising, and never without talking to a client first.
Do you provide the digital files and/or negatives (or copies of the negatives) to the client?
Yes, clients receive discs containing jpg images, sized to 6x9" (high-resolution printable to 8 x 10), and any and all film negatives OR scans of the film negatives. Higher resolution tif files can be purchased, as can images formatted for large scale printing.
Will images be available for viewing online?
Yes.
What kind of albums do you offer?
I prefer creating soft cover coffee table books for clients, but I will help with the creation of any kind of album, formal or casual. I make custom, hand-made archival albums of my own, starting at $500, which are totally customizable and unique to a clients event.
I use Azuka Book, Renaissance and a few other vendors to provide wedding albums to my clients.
I also offer matted collections of prints, displayed in an archival photo box. Clients can then frame them or keep them in the portfolio for easy sharing.
When will the client get the final album?
Books can take up to 3 or 4 months to create, print and ship, depending on the type of album you get. Softcover coffee table books take less time than hard cover, flush-mounted albums.
