THE REID BALLROOM The Helen Dwight Reid Educational Foundation Building?1319 Eighteenth Street, NW, Washington, DC Hold your next special event in the private ballroom of the Reid Foundation Building, one of the most beautiful mansions on Dupont Circle. Built in 1901, this grand building was purchased and renovated by the Helen Dwight Reid Educational Foundation in 1991. The interior has retained much of its original architectural detail, including a sweeping circular staircase, finely crafted wall friezes, intricate crown and ceiling molding, carved oak doors, marble fireplace mantles, and the original brass hardware. Special Features: The ballroom is 975 square feet and will accommodate up to 75 people for seminars and 125 people for receptions. The room is perfectly suited for non-profit groups as well as other organizations, and features an original parquet floor, brass sconces, carved marble tables, and eighteen-foot ceilings. A fully equipped kitchen is available for use in conjunction with room rental. Former renters of the facility include: Freedom House, Social Democrats, Center For a Free China, The Centril Group, The Asia Foundation, Organization of Chinese American Women, Center for Religious Freedom, International Eye Foundation, Campaign for Tibet, World Wildlife Fund, Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy, Public Leadership Education Network, and Carleton College. Parking and Access: The Reid Foundation mansion, located at 1319 Eighteenth Street, NW, is one-and-a-half blocks from the Dupont Circle Metro station on the Red Line of the Metro system. Public parking is available nearby. The facility is accessible to persons with disabilities. |
