About our company . . .
Polished is a Customizing Airbrush Spray Tanning company that began out of necessity. My red hair and fair skin, although with the ability to tan, was never a good combination with the sun. After years of overexposure to UV rays and sun damage, I was diagnosed with Melanoma when I was 35. As a mother of two beautiful children, I was not about to risk abandoning them at a young age when I could prevent this from happening. Therefore, I began using self-tanning lotions, gels and solutions that always left me with dark palms, discoloration; my feet always looked dirty instead of tan and I could never get my back well. After months of experimentation with several different brands, I just knew there had to be something better; after all, how did the celebrities always look so good? I went in search of the airbrush tanning salons and found none. The spray booths were ok, but still left an uneven and orange tint that looked un-natural. I then decided to form my own company in an effort to give others the same result I was getting from the Airbrush Tan. It is so natural, flawless and beautiful. Now you can enjoy a beautiful tan without the harmful affects of the UV Rays and . . . keep your skin looking younger, longer.
Therefore, I hope you enjoy . . . Polished !

Additional Questions and Answers
Important FAQ’s
How does it Work?
The active ingredient is dihydroxyacetone (DHA) which causes a chemical reaction with the amino acids on the outer most layer of the skin, the epidermis. This reaction causes the color of the skin to darken, producing a beautiful, natural tan. DHA starts to react with the skin within 2 hours of the tan application and continues to do so for a total of 4-8 hours. It is recommended waiting a minimum of 7 hours after tanning to shower or bathe. Allow 20-30 minutes per session depending upon service chosen.
How long does an Airbrush Tan last?
Depending upon the each individual’s activities and skin type, the tan lasts approximately 7-10 days. With follow-up applications, a person can maintain the tan indefinitely. Ask about our tan extending products to help keep your beautiful tan.
What should you wear & How do I prepare for my Spray Tan?
Attire for women is whatever you are comfortable with. Many things can be done to minimize tan lines. The key is your comfort level. Attire for men is boxers, swimming trunks or shorts. Your tanning specialist will use the utmost discretion. Loose fitting clothing should be worn after an Airbrush tanning session. DHA can react with wool, nylon and silk. These fabrics should not be worn during or immediately following your tanning session.
To prepare for your tan and for best results, exfoliate your skin either the day of your appointment or the day before. Do not apply too much lotion – although some will not affect the results. Shaving is not necessary, however if you are planning to attend an event that day, it is best to be clean shaven as you are not to shower, shave or sweat for at least 6-7 hours after your session. Wear loose clothing to your session.
What is different between an Airbrush Tan and a Spray Tan? The airbrush tan looks as if you just returned from the Bahamas. Since your technician is trained to apply the sunless tanning solution with such precision you will have no streaks, discoloration, our hands and feet will match the rest of your body. It is a flawless, golden tan. You can choose to get a sun-kissed tan or a darker tan as the technician can lighten and darken the solution. No more orange, no more dark palms and no super, salty odor. It fades like a real tan. You will look like a celebrity on the red carpet!
Is an Airbrush Tan safe?
YES! According to the American Academy of Dermatology, the most effective products available are sunless tanning products that contain DHA as the active ingredient. DHA has been used in cosmetic preparations for almost 30 years and was listed with the FDA in 1973. It is declared safe and suitable for use in cosmetics and drugs used to color the skin.
Tips and Advice
Do you know what causes our skin to looked older before its years? . . . Yes, you said it, The SUN! This is why I am passionate about utilizing an alternative approach. The sun is the number one contributing factor that causes, hyperpigmentation, hypopigmentation, wrinkles and fine lines. Once your skin is damaged, it is very hard to correct, if impossible without evasive and costly cosmetic procedures.
Even more important, various forms of skin cancers are also caused by the sun and are fatal. Be cautious and smart about your tanning habits. ALWAYS wear sunscreen of no less than SPF 15. Did you know that most everyone in the USA have more hyperpigmentation on the left sides of their face because of the sun coming through our windows as we drive?
Airbrush Tanning is safe, healthy and with the right solution, good for your skin. I hope that before you hop into a Tanning Bed or lay out in the sun for several hours with no protection, think of your skin's health.
