Frequently Asked Questions for Photography
Do you offer special techniques such as hand-coloring or toning?
All of my photographs are printed via traditional chemistry processes. I color correct everything so skin tones are natural looking. I ONLY use KODAK PROFESSIONAL paper and KODAK lifetime guarantees the images not to fade for 99 years! I NEVER use 1 hour lab for prints nor do I use dye sub or ink jet.

Do you have experience shooting in various lighting situations?
I have shot over 2700 weddings in my career. Softlight is always more flattering for subjects especially the bride. However since I carry a 400 watt/second strobe I can handle even heavily back lit scenes such as sunset on the beach. I own the very best camera equipment that money can buy which easily seperates me from my competition.

Is your media preference film or digital?
I'm what they call a HYBRID photographer since I embrass both Film and Digital Cameras. I find Film cameras work much better in bright light and provide extremely accurate colors with natural skin tones. I tend to use my digitals more during the reception and low light situations.

How many photographers do you work with?
Typically I cover the event solo. However I can bring an assitant if the couple has either a large bridal party or wants additional coverage. I also find that couples are really watching their budgets these days and with a single photographer they can save quite a bit. I typicall y discuss this with the couple and let them decide.

Do you guarantee your presence at the actual event?
Yes, I have a perfect track record. I will be the one photographing your wedding. I will never send just my assistant.

Do you sometimes book yourself for more than one event in a day? Weekend?
NO, I have learned that this is just to stressful on myself. I prefer to cover only one event per day from start to finish. All of my packages included unlimited time. You will never be rushed through your day!

Do you have a replacement photographer in case you become unavailable on the day of the event?
Yes I do, but in my 30 years of business I have always made it to the event.

What kind of equipment do you typically bring with you on the day-of?
I bring 3 cameras all of equal quality. A wide selection of lens', tripods, background lights, spare cables and batteries. I also can bring back drops with studio lighting.

Do you bring back-up equipment to the event in case of malfunction?
YES, see above.

Do you charge hourly or full day?
I do not charge by the hour unless it is a very small event and they only want me for two hours. Typically 99.9% of the time I start with the bride 90 minutes prior ceremony and stay to the scheduled event end. You will never incure an over-time charge.

Are you available to shoot extra hours? If yes, how much do you charge for extra hours?
See above.

What is your policy on taking breaks? If you require a meal break, do you require that the client provide your meal?
I usually take a break when the guest are eating. I pride myself on keeping interuptions to a minimum and not being a pest to the bride family and friends. This is something I will discuss with the couple so I can maintain the atmosphere they desire.

Do you charge for travel?
I include up to 120 miles from my door.

How soon after the event are the proofs ready for viewing?
Typically within 10 days after the event.

In what format are the initial proofs offered?
I prefer to deliever 4x5 or 4x6 proofs. I don't offer thumbnails or contact prints as they're simply to small to view.

How long can the client keep the proofs?
The proofs are included in package therefore they're yours to keep forever.

Do you retain the copyright for the photos?
No always, this can be purchased and is also included in my larger packages.

Do you reserve the right to publish the photos?
Yes, I do from time to time use my customers images for studio samples.

Do you provide the digital files and/or negatives (or copies of the negatives) to the client?
Once again, these are either included in my larger packages or can be purchased seperately.

Will images be available for viewing online?
Yes, however I typically won't make the web-site live until my couples see their proofs.

What kind of albums do you offer?
I offer every type and style of album that is available, in a wide variety off colors and sizes. I'm not a huge fan of press printed books since these don't contain photographs. I do offer press printed if you must have them but I will warn you they're not archival quality.

When will the client get the final album?
That is completely up to you. Most of my couples need about 90 days to pick their favorites. Once they drop their order off it's ready within two weeks

Additional Questions and Answers

I pride myself on designing custom packages for those couples that want something slightly different. I don't charge extra for black and whites. I'm am not a weekender this is what I do full time. Therefore I pour my heart and soul into your wedding images.

Tips and Advice

It has been my experience that hair appointments always run longer then you think or plan. Give yourself an extra hour here!  Especially since many banquet halls are selling you a block of time.  Although I work very efficiently, no photographer likes being rushed. By allowing extra time you will gain many more photos.

If your doing a beach wedding make sure you know the direction of the sun. If you set your arch up in such a way that during the precessional your bridemaids are walking directly into the sun they will most likely be squinking their eyes in your photographs. It best to try and be on a 30 degree anglr to the direction of the sun.

Instruct your family and friends to remain in the church after the ceremony for photographs.  This will prevent addition interuptions during your reception to get these family groupings.

Gentlemen should carry a small towel or cloth in very hot weather.  Bottled water should be provided for guests in extreme heat during summer month especially for outdoor weddings.

Remember certain flowers will wilt and pettles will drop quickly during summer months. Speak to you florist about these challenges especially during summer months.

Avoid placing family or guests in wheel chairs near the aisle.

White runners for the bride don't work well in outdoor weddings. The wind typical blow them around and the womens high heals poke them full of holes.

If you are pregnant you should make your photographer aware of this. You may require a slower pace and few more breaks to get through the photo sessions.

If you have any medical limitations you should advise your photographer.

Advise your photographer of divorced couples especially if their your parents. They may not want their pictures taken together.

Unity candles don't work well at outdoor ceremonies, consider a sand ceremony instead.

The Bride should consider professional makup. Remember warm skin tones and always blend those tones into your neck line.

If bridesmaids are arriving from out of town prior to your wedding.  Advise them them while tanning in FL  to watch strap lines especially if there going to be wearing a stapless gown for your wedding. However this can be touched up. Warm them to wear sunscreen on their face. Red faces really stand out in light clothing. The same is true for the groomsmen should they be golfing prior to your wedding.

Make sure your groomsmen use a good Tuxedo shop, Mr Tux in Clearwater always fits the gentlemen perfectly. Tremendous track record of great looking for formal wear.

If your traveling out of country for your Honeymoon make sure you have Passports. You should do this 6 months prior to your wedding date.
