WEDDING POEM:

“Why Videography?”

Since you were a child,
You’ve looked forward to a special day.
The reason for this dream,
Was the way you used to play.

Perhaps you dressed up as mother,
Re-enacting the way she dressed.
Looking through her albums,
You realize how much you’re blessed.

Her memories are quite remarkable,
The flowers, the suits, the vows.
All these things and more,
Are the memories of the now.

Mother’s wedding was beautiful,
It was everything she said it would be.
But why is it so difficult for her to remember,
The day she was filled with glee.

All the planning, the organizing, the smiling,
The way Grandpa walked her down the aisle.
These things took so much time to ponder,
To have perfected to a certain style.

You recognize the smallest details,
From the cufflinks to the corsage.
These things can be easily forgotten,
Just like your last massage.

But when questions are raised,
Asking mother the things she did that day.
She would sometimes pause a moment,
Re-collecting stories of what to say.

And so her thoughts begin,
Describing the details of the marriage.
The albums are a huge help,
Like a fairytale with a beautiful carriage.

In this moment of reminisce,
You may worry if she truly remembers.
What will happen ten years from now?
From that beautiful Sweet November.

The glass case is opened,
Mother looks through her DVD collection.
She has them so organized,
It is to a near perfection.

She smiles as she pulls out an item,
Something she holds dear to her heart.
She pops in the movie,
And begins to cry from the very start.

Reliving those emotions dear,
That nervousness I felt that day.
Surely is worth the price,
Of the cost I had to pay.

This priceless item is by far,
A very important treasure.
Not having this memory fade,
Reliving them is worth beyond measure.

So the details of this day,
Are captured with beautiful photography.
But it’s just as important,
To include your Videography.

The emotion, the music, the memories,
These are an important thing.
That make me want to relive watching,
The movie where I put on my wedding ring.
