Do you offer special techniques such as hand-coloring or toning?
Yes, I enjoy black and white and sepia images. Black and white has such a timeless elegance about it and is perfect for showcasing images filled with emotion. However, I also think an image should be able to stand on its own without the need for a lot of post processing.
Do you have experience shooting in various lighting situations?
Although my preference is to shoot with natural light whenever, possible, I am definitely comfortable shooting under any lighting conditions, whether it be indoor, outdoor, or mixed lighting . In addition to my on camera flash, I also utilize off camera lighting to bring more drama and depth to the images, especially during the reception.
Is your media preference film or digital?
I made the switch to entirely digital about six years ago and love it!
How many photographers do you work with?
I own my studio and one of my goals is to provide very personal service to each and every couple. You will only deal directly with me in all of our communications. Depending on the package, I do also shoot with a second shooter at times, but that is always in addition to my shooting, never instead of.
Do you sometimes book yourself for more than one event in a day? Weekend?
I only ever shoot one wedding a day, and typically only one a weekend.
Do you have a replacement photographer in case you become unavailable on the day of the event?
Yes! My husband is also a professional photographer and would be the first person I would turn to, but I also have a network of photographers in the area that I could call upon if needed. It's never been necessary in all the time I've been shooting, but it's nice to know they're there, just in case!
What kind of equipment do you typically bring with you on the day-of?
My Nikon cameras and lenses and off camera lighting are standard, and then added to as the situation demands.
Do you bring back-up equipment to the event in case of malfunction?
Yes, definitely! I have backups for everything, from camera bodies to flashes to lenses, etc. No professional photographer should ever be without backup equipment!
Do you charge hourly or full day?
My most popular packages are for full day coverage, but I do also offer hourly packages.
Are you available to shoot extra hours? If yes, how much do you charge for extra hours?
Yes, as I only ever shoot one wedding a day, it's never a problem to stay later if necessary.
What is your policy on taking breaks? If you require a meal break, do you require that the client provide your meal?
The action never stops during a wedding, and that means neither do I!
Do you retain the copyright for the photos?
Yes, I retain the copyright but the couple receives a print release allowing them to reproduce the images for personal use.
Do you reserve the right to publish the photos?
Yes, unless special arrangements are made with the couple ahead of time.
Do you provide the digital files and/or negatives (or copies of the negatives) to the client?
Yes, all of my packages include the digital files with print release.
Will images be available for viewing online?
Yes, all of my packages include an online proofing album that will be online for a minimum of three months.
What kind of albums do you offer?
I offer a wide variety of albums, from contemporary flush mount styles, more traditional matted albums and even eco-friendly green albums.
When will the client get the final album?
After you receive your proofs, I recommend that you take a little while to really absorb all of the images before making your selections for the album. You'll find that each time you look through them, you'll notice different images. When you're ready, you'll give me a list of must have images for the album, and then another list "if there's still space" images. I'll use these lists to design the album, which usually takes 2-4 weeks, depending on the time of year. You'll then review the design and I'll make any necessary changes. After you approve the design, it goes to the album company.
