Tips and Advice
#1 Hiring Friends and/or Family for your Wedding Photography
With the digital age in full force, more and more people are finding themselves drawn to photography...digital makes it easy. However great a friend or family member may be at taking pictures, it’s best to leave this day up to a professional. If not, you may find yourself in a terribly awkward situation of trying to tell your loved one that your disappointed in their work. Professionals bring thousands of dollars of backup equipment, lighting, assistants, props and more to be prepared for every situation that could occur...as well as professional liability insurance in the event the venue is damaged or someone is injured to to negligence. For almost every situation you are faced with on your wedding day, we have encountered nearly 10 times more often. Trust me. We’ve seen it all!
There are certain milestones in life that we remember forever and tend to replay in our minds or tell the story throughout our lives...our prom, our wedding day, our first home, our children’s birth and our grandchildren’s birth. Each of these events signifies a new chapter of our lives and they should be captured in pictures with the same joy as they are captured in our minds. Your wedding day is one of the most important days of your life. Don’t cut your budget in the category of photography. When all is said and done the only reminders that you will have to commemorate your special day will be your pictures and video.
#2 Relax and Have Fun!
You’ve waited for this day all of your life, so please enjoy it. Do whatever it takes for you to de-stress before your wedding. Don’t put ANYTHING in your plan book for the night before your wedding...except maybe a massage. Don’t add any additional stress to your life by planning large family or friend get togethers, it’s best to take this time to share with one or two other close friends or family members at the spa or better yet, have a masseuse come to your home or hotel.
Be prepared to let something slide on your wedding day. I promise you, something will not go as planned...someone will be late, someone’s wardrobe will malfunction, or the flowers or cake or some other detail will not be as you envisioned it. If you prepare yourself in advance for some type of misfortune, it will be easier to just let it go. Ultimately, these are just small details that should not interfere with your special day. As long as you both show up and say "I do", that’s all that really matters.
Letting go of the stress is the very best way to look beautiful, happy and comfortable in your wedding photos!
