Additional Questions and Answers

Q:  Do you have a catalog?

A:  We do not have a catalog as all of our invitations are offered online. Our energy is spent on providing the widest and most current selection at up to 20% off retail pricing so that you may search for invitations online while keeping your budget in check. Samples of most of our invitations are offered so that you may get a better idea of the quality, look, and feel.

Q:  Do you ship outside of the United States?

A:  At this time, MyGatsby.com ships to continental U.S. addresses only.  We also cannot mail to APO boxes.

You may place your order from outside the United States and have your order shipped to a U.S. address.

Q:  How long will it take to receive my order?

A:  Printed invitation orders take 2 - 3 weeks to process plus additional shipping time: Ground 5 - 10 business days, 2nd Day, or Next Day.

Samples typically arrive within 7 - 10 business days.

Q:  What are the different printing methods?

A:  THERMOGRAPHY - Ink is raised above the surface of the paper. It is an affordable imitation of engraving.

LITHOGRAPHY (OFFSET PRINTING) - Ink sits flat on the surface of the paper. Nearly all modern printing is offset.

ENGRAVING - Your image is raised above the surface of the paper. Yields the sharpest image of all the traditional printing methods.

LETTERPRESS - Your type will be indented into the paper. Thicker, softer papers will carry a deeper impression than hard or thin papers. This method is the opposite of engraving.

Q:  What is a proof?

A:  Although we strongly believe our online proof gives you the best example of what your final invitation pieces will look like when printed (these are free at no charge to you), we understand some of you still might feel more comfortable working directly with an Invitation Consultant. You can review and make sure the formatting, text and spelling are exactly what you want before your invitations are printed. However, because it is black and white, it will not show cardstock and/or ink color combinations. If you have any doubts or questions as to the final lettering size or layout of your order, you may order a black and white proof. Proofs are sent as PDF files via e-mail, so you will need to download and install Adobe® Reader® to view them. Upon receipt of your proof you may then make your final changes or corrections.

Q:  What is the best way to find what I’m looking for?

A:  If you know exactly what you are looking for, you can narrow down our selection using our Advanced Search where you can search by: keyword, brand and album, event, style, or price. Feel free to fill in one or all of the search options, click Go and the matching selections will appear. If you aren’t sure exactly what you are looking for, you can always browse by event.

Q:  How do you print on vellum?

A:  Before printing, set your margins and test the type placement by printing copies on white paper test sheets and aligning with the vellum over a light source.

Warm up your printer. Toner adheres to paper by a heat fusion process. If the printer is not heated up properly or the vellum stock is cold, you may not achieve optimal results. Run another small job first to make sure the machine is warmed up.

Verify that your printer is not set to Draft mode. Use the highest dpi setting on your printer, 600 or 1200 dpi is best.

Allow several seconds for drying time before handling any printed vellum stock.

Q:  When should I mail my wedding invitations?

A:  Invitations should be mailed at least six weeks prior to the wedding date. People planning a summer or holiday wedding often choose to send Save the Date cards as many as four months before the event. Save the Date cards allow out-of-town guests plan their travel arrangments far enough in advance.

Q:  Why should I order a sample?

A:  While we cannot offer personalized samples, the best way to determine the quality of our products is to order a sample. Having a sample prior to ordering your invitations allows you to see and feel the weight of the card stock and thermography ink and will help make your color matching process easier. Samples are available for most of the products we offer.
