Describe your DJ style:
Our style is an elegant, understated, "low-key" approach for all of our performers. We are not cheesy, interactive DJs -- we keep the dance floor packed by mixing great music and keeping the microphone work to a minimum. We do not use props or teach people line dances. All of our performers are very skilled, articulate, professional emcees and only make announcements when necessary.
Is there a limit to the amount of music that can be requested?
Not really, although there's a limit to the amount of music that can be played at a 4-6 hour wedding. We work closely with our clients to ensure that all of the songs that are important to them are played.
What is your usual attire?
Our standard attire is a dark business suit with appropriate accessories or a conservative black tuxedo. We do not wear shiny vests or corny "musical notes" bowties, or anything else that would make us stand out from your guests.
If you do not have one of the songs pre-requested by the client, do you require that they provide it?
We purchase any music required for every wedding we do. Unless a couple asks for independent or local-label artists that we literally can't purchase anywhere, we would never ask them to provide music for us.
How many other DJs do you work with?
We currently have 10 DJs on staff.
What is the minimum amount of time you will DJ for?
Our base package includes 6 hours of performance time, but we'll play for practically any amount of time. Our clients decide how much or how little they'd like to use us. Any time in excess of the initial base package is available at a discounted hourly rate.
Is the client able to meet the DJ before booking?
Absolutely! Meeting the DJ before signing a contract is crucial - couples should insist on it. The entertainment at a wedding has the biggest impact on the success (or failure) of the entire wedding. We actually travel to meet our prospective clients wherever it's convenient for them.
Do you specialize in any ethnic or international events?
We perform for dozens of multicultural weddings every year, which is a testament to our versatility. Specifically, we have a thorough understanding of Latin American, Indian, Pakistani, Persian, Middle Eastern, and most East Asian wedding customs and ethnic music. We also have a bilingual (Spanish/English) DJ on staff.
Can the client submit a do-not-play list?
We encourage our clients to give us a "do not play" list, this function is built directly into our online music planning tool. It's very important to us to get to know each couple we work with, and to learn what they want (and don't want) us to play.
Do you bring your own equipment?
Yes - our performers use the finest professional-grade equipment available. We get a lot of compliments on the clarity of our sound systems, and each of our DJs has been trained in proper sound reinforcement. Even if a reception site has tricky acoustics, our DJs can "tune" the room in order to minimize echoes and provide a clear, comfortable level of volume.
What (if any) special equipment, such as disco balls or lighting, is offered with your service?
We believe that quality lighting is a specialized service best left to a lighting designer -- we'll be happy to refer you to some excellent ones so that we can focus on your music!
Our flat-rate package pricing is different than all of the other DJ companies in the area - we include any and all sound equipment necessary for a successful event. This includes multiple sound systems, additional speakers, wireless speakers, wireless microphones, a subwoofer for the dancefloor, and anything else that might be needed. Our clients simply pay for our presence on their wedding day, and we will bring whatever equipment is needed to make it sound perfect.
How much time do you usually need to set up? Do you require that the site or client provide a table for you to set up on?
We always arrive at least 1 1/2 hours before our contracted start time to set up. We do require that a 6' banquet table with linens be provided for our equipment.
Do you have any extra space requirements?
No.
Do you have a sign or banner that you use at events?
Uh, no... Any company that does something like that should be crossed off your list. It's a wedding, not an advertising opportunity.
Do you usually emcee the event or talk between songs?
Yes, and no. We are comfortable handling any announcements that need to be made in a tasteful manner. We do not, however, introduce each song that we play. We understand that a wedding is not a personal radio show, and we are not interested in listening to ourselves talk the whole night - and neither are your guests.
How would you motivate the crowd if no one is dancing?
We don't have a problem getting people to dance, all of our DJs are experienced professionals and are able to "read the crowd" and determine what music will work. That said, we are not "party motivator" or "entertainer emcee" type performers and we will not treat your wedding like a Bar Mitzvah. We would never harass your guests on the microphone or try to teach people line dances or anything embarrassing like that - it's not our style at all.
What is your policy on taking breaks? If you require a meal break, do you require that the client provide your meal?
We don't require a meal, but one is requested. If one won't be provided, we simply ask to be notified before the wedding so we can eat beforehand.
Will you arrange for recorded music to play during your breaks?
Of course.
What is your backup plan in case you become unavailable on the day of the event?
Our backup plan is second-to-none in the entire DJ industry, we're very proud of it. Not only do we reserve one of our staff DJs as an "emergency DJ" every weekend, we also prepare that DJ with all of the music selections and paperwork for every single wedding on our schedule. As far as we know, no other DJ company in the area does as much as we do to ensure that our clients will have a high-quality, prepared DJ on the day of their wedding - even in the case of a true emergency.
Do you book yourself for more than one event in a day?
No. This is a very important question to ask, because a lot of DJs do this. There's no way a DJ can be in top form for an evening wedding after performing for another wedding earlier in the day. We insist that our disc jockeys give their undivided attention to their clients on their wedding day.
What is your overtime rate?
It depends on the date of the event. Our objective pricing system is determined by the month of each wedding. Overtime is available at a lower hourly rate than our base package.
Do you charge for travel expenses? If yes, how much do you charge?
Yes, we charge a travel fee for any wedding more than 90 miles (one way) from Columbia, MD. Travel fees start at $200, and depend on how far the DJ has to travel.
What is the required deposit to secure your services?
We require a minimum 50% deposit to secure the date. We also offer a 10% discount for couples who elect to pay in full when they book; a lot of our clients take advantage of that.

Contact us as soon as you set your wedding date, there is a very high level of demand for our services and we book very quickly for popular dates. We will certainly accomodate last-minute bookings if we have availability, but most clients contract us 10-14 months before their wedding. |
