Do you offer special techniques such as hand-coloring or toning?
All of our photographers shoot the original picture set in color and then any images you select can be flawlessly converted to black and white or sepia for no additional charge. With our online proofing you can preview what the conversion from color to B&W or sepia will look like.
We also offer a full range of custom digital art options such as blemish removal, color selection, antiquing, textural overlays, and other image enhancement services.
Do you have experience shooting in various lighting situations?
Our average photographer has over 5 years of wedding experience and 10 years of photographic experience total. Many have formal education with 2 or 4 year degrees in the field. In addition, each photographer must complete our training course and complete the review cycle with our director of photography. It's safe to say that your photographer will be able to manage whatever lighting conditions present themselves on your wedding day!
Is your media preference film or digital?
Digital. RAW format for maximum quality. It's already surpassed 35mm film and keeps getting better. It's Amazing what we can do now with Digital!
How many photographers do you work with?
All told we are more than 20 photographers and a growing family with the new Colorado Branch serving the greater Denver area. On your wedding day you'll have options ranging from 1 photographer and upwards.
Do you guarantee your presence at the actual event?
Yes.
Do you sometimes book yourself for more than one event in a day? Weekend?
We do book ourselves for more than one event per day as we have a the staff to accommodate this. Your specific photographer or videographer will only be booked for one wedding in a day - Yours.
Do you have a replacement photographer in case you become unavailable on the day of the event?
We always have 2 certified photographers on-call in case of emergency. These photographers are part of our normal rotation and shoot with the same standards as you have come to expect from Modern Image Studios.
What kind of equipment do you typically bring with you on the day-of?
Our photographers use professional Digital SLR camera bodies and a wide variety of fast professional lenses ranging from wides to telephotos. They'll have both on and off-camera flash equipment for dark or indoor situations. We require all photographers to shoot in at least 8 mega pixels (MP) format ensuring the highest resolution format for up to 30 by 40 inch prints.
Do you bring back-up equipment to the event in case of malfunction?
All of our photographers are required to bring back up equipment charged, loaded, and ready to go.
Do you charge hourly or full day?
We charge for the day generally speaking but we have packages ranging in price and hours of coverage.
Are you available to shoot extra hours? If yes, how much do you charge for extra hours?
Overtime is always an option, even on the day of your event. It is $150/hr.
Do you charge for travel?
There are no travel fees for the Chicagoland area. We have shooters downtown, north, west, and south of the city. Have us assess your travel if the destination is outside of the greater Chicago area.
How soon after the event are the proofs ready for viewing?
We allow up to 3 weeks for the proofs to be online however we're aiming for and often achieving a 7-10 day turn around.
In what format are the initial proofs offered?
In 2009 initial proofs are online only and at a 600 x 400 px resolution. We do offer a DVD slideshow or a printed proof book as an add on.
Do you retain the copyright for the photos?
We do retain copyrights for our promotional materials but share them with the client via a copyright release form delivered with the digital files and the album.
Do you reserve the right to publish the photos?
Yes. We do respect the wishes of clients who wish not to be published.
Do you provide the digital files and/or negatives (or copies of the negatives) to the client?
Yes. In 2009 all of our packages include your own archival copy of the Digital Negatives (full resolution digital files) delivered on the completion of the Album. This allows us to include all images, enhanced and retouched during the process of building the album, to find their way into the file set.
Will images be available for viewing online?
Yes. We host the images online for 3 months following their posting with extensions available.
What kind of albums do you offer?
We offer a range of albums spanning traditional to ultra modern Italian made albums. Please schedule a consultation with one of our wedding coordinators to see this exciting line of products.
When will the client get the final album?
This depends on whether or not you pre-selected your album and how quickly you make your image selections after the wedding. You'll be contacted after the wedding by your Modern Image Studios coordinator to finalize these details. Once this is completed turn-arounds depending on the album. See the next FAQ.
