GETA DANCE is a new style of performing art created by Miyuki Matsunaga. It blends elements of Japanese traditional dance, modern dance, and Japanese poetry.
Dancers wear Japanese GETA sandals with Kimono and use various traditional Japanese items such as SENSU(fan), KASA(umbrella), KATANA(sword), and NARUKO, which visually enhance the performances. Each GETA DANCE piece has its own story, which is beautifully portrayed in each of MIYUKI's delicately choreographed dances and original HAIKU.
GETA DANCE is performed to the sounds of Japanese TAIKO drums, MINYO(Japanese folk music), SHAKUHACHI(bamboo flute), and SHAMISEN.
