Describe how you price, such as by slice or by tier, for your cakes?
My Basic Flavor Wedding cake slices start at $3 per serving for most wedding cakes. "Floater Stands" and Kitchen cakes are less expensive and are based on cake flavors.

Does the price include the top tier of the cake?
Each tier is prices individually. My gift to each bride is a small 5" round left for freezing with instructions at your reception site. Or you may take this with you on your Honeymoon/Hotel to start your marriage off sweetly! Tops can be re-made a year later for a small fee is you wish.

Do you offer custom cakes, or do you work with pre-designed styles?
Anything is possible. The more artistic and individual the better. I offer specialty grooms cakes and bachelor party cakes to match any personality.

What (if any) special ingredients, such as fresh fruits or farm-fresh butter, do you use in your cakes?
Farm Fresh eggs from a local farmer, sweet cream butter, Liquors on specialty cakes, fresh fruits and organic flour. Only the best ingredients!

On average, how far in advance of the event do you prepare the cake?
I like to keep the cakes to a min of advance preparation so you get the freshest cake possible. Most cakes are iced and decorated only hours before your reception. Sugar art pieces and flowers are done in advance due to drying time required.

How many cakes do you schedule for a typical weekend?
Wedding cake orders are kept to 4 cakes per weekend depending on the size of cake requested. I do not do more than 3 cakes over 100 servings so that I have time to spend on every detail. Book early to reserve your date.

Will you work with the client's florist to garnish the cake?
I am in a family of Florist owners. I DO prefer to handle the flowers for you. Since I will be discussing your cake personally with you I know exactly what you are wanting and how you want it. If you wish for your florist to garnish your cake I will happily work with them to make sure the cake is there prior to their arrival for set up.

What (if any) cake accessories, such as a cake stand or cake cutter, do you rent out?
We offer a variety of silver and traditional cake stands and Cup cake stands to rent, We have tables, Linens, Tropical and Beach ware, and candles that may also be rented for your cake table.

Do you offer delivery? If yes, how much is your average delivery fee?
Delivery is free in my southern Maryland area of La Plata and Indian Head. All other deliveries are prices per mile. On average DC or Cobb Island area is about $75. This includes table set up as well...so please leave the table free of decorations if you have a large intricate cake.

Additional Answers & Advice:
A nice finishing touch for your cake is fresh greenery around the base of your cake. This is an inexpensive touch and helps to set the cakes apart from the rest of the decorated tables. Your florist will be able to help you choose the appropriate foliage.  Use Seasonal greens but be careful of the scent... you want to smell the delicious cake over the scent of pine!  Be careful of foliage or flowers that are non-edible. .  NO Ivy, Poinsettia's, Holly or Mistletoe!   Your florist can help you pick foliage and flowers that are safe to use around food

Your first Anniversary cake will be very tasty if you will follow these instructions. Remove the cake from the separator plate by slipping a knife between the separator plate and the cardboard under the cake. Place the cake in a appropriate size box or containter and wrap the entire box with several layers of plastic wrap and aluminum foil and then place the whole thing in another plastic container. When you are ready to eat your anniversary cake, remove the container from the freezer and let the cake thaw in the container with the aluminum and plastic still covering the box. Do not unwrap/open it until it is totally thawed. When the cake has time to thaw completely, remove the cake from the container/box, unwrap and enjoy!

Kitchen Cakes....need I say more.  If your trying to stay within a budget these cakes are you best option.  Kept in the Kitchen they are served out after you cut your first slice.  This allows you to have the artistic cake you have always dreamed about and have enough cake slices to serve to your guests.  This also allows you to serve a larger varitey of cake flavors.  So find the cake of your dreams and think about the "Kitchen Cake".

Make sure you look where your wedding cake is going to be placed for your reception.  I have moved many many tables in my time as a cake decoratore because of items on the wall behind the cake.  Rememebr whatever is behind you on the wall is going to be in your pictures!  So look for those fire hydrants, Ugly Artwork, Messy Marks, and Restroom signs.  They can make a memory you might not want as your eating your first slice together!
