Your wedding day will be one of the most important days in your life. It is a celebration of your love,
your commitment to one another, and the life that you share.

I am Tiffany Newman, a registered civil wedding officiant in the District of Columbia. I perform non-religious civil ceremonies for couples of all backgrounds, including same-sex marriages.

In October 2009, my husband and I attended the March for Equality in Washington, DC.

As an interracial couple, we feel that there are many parallels between the current fight for marriage
equality in the GLBT community and that fought by interracial couples of generations past. As the child
of an interracial marriage, I watched my parents go through many of these same struggles.

So, to show our support, we carried a sign that read "Our Marriage Was Once Illegal, Too!"

The response we received from other marchers was overwhelming and unimaginably humbling. We felt that we needed to do more. So, when Marriage Equality came to D.C. in March 2010, we began offering our services to both same-sex and opposite-sex couples.

SInce then, I have performed several hundred non-religious civil ceremonies for couples of all backgrounds, including gay and same-sex couples.

I perform small ceremonies in my office and ceremony room in Dupont Circle. But, I but am also available for ceremonies of all sizes at the location of your choosing within the District of Columbia.

I respect and work to understand the needs of the couples I wed.   I hope that you will give me the pleasure of being a part of your special day.
