When selecting a banquet room in the facility of multiple rooms, have your banquet manager to demonstrate how sound proof are dividing walls between rooms.  Your event could be a total disaster if you and your guests will hear music from other rooms.

Ask about a backup generator, just in case of power failure.

Ask for kitchen tour.  You really want to know what is behind that wall.  However, be nice about it and visit the kitchen only if it is not used at that time.

Keep in mind more guests you can commit more bargain power you have.  

If you want to get an excellent price on your event, be very flexible and search for open dates within 3 months of your event.  I know it is a short time; however, if you will find that open date I can guarantee you great deal.
